Received misdirected parking fine

Hello!

I just found out in my mailbox a parking fine of 50CHF for a motorbike? With the adress being the area I live in.
The thing is, I do not posses a motorbike (or even a motorbike driving licence) and don't have any vehicles right now.
At the time of infraction I also was at work.

On the orange slip, the acount number ("Einbezahlt von") does not correspond to my accounts.

Nowhere it says my name, or my adress, so I don't even know how the postman decided to put the fine in my mailbox.

Should I just disreagard it or I should do something about it? if so, where? the fine seems to be issued by parkon gmbh.

My guess is it blew off a vehicle (bike?) and someone shoved it in your mailbox.

Re: Received misdirected parking fine

First, CHF 50 is a very odd, non-standard amount for an official parking fine. Look like it more a Umtriebsentschädigung/"Inconvinience fee" from a privat entity.

Second, the "Einbezahlt von:" part will usually not have any account No.
The number shown is the reference number of the payment slip. Maybe it has also the license number of the offending vehicle.

Some questions:
- Was it in a letter? If yes why did you open the letter when you are not the named recipent?
- Who is the recipent of the requested money as stated on the "Einbezahlt für:" part.
- And who is actually addressed to?
- How do you know it is for a motorcycle?

The decent thing to do is to drop it in the proper mailbox which as you said is in your neighbourhood.

- On the "umtriebsentschädigung" paper stapled to it, in the Fahrzeugart/Fabricat box is indicated "Leichtkraftrad/Piaggio"

The area is composed of 4 buildings, in my building only there is already 15 mailbox..

Those are the ones they put on the vehicle, just toss it away, the owner which could be anyone on earth actually) will get a proper bill in his mailbox.

Just throw it in the bin and forget about it.

As said this is not an account number but a the reference/serialnumber of the payment slip. Each orange sliup has such a number. You will also find on the right hand side, and also on the machine readable part on the bottom of the slip.

So it is not real fine/Ordnungsbusse from the police but indeed a bill from private parking space owner.

My assumption is that who ever parked on the private spot just shoved it into the next best mail box.

As it is an Umtriebsentschädigung the owner of the vehicle might next get a citation form a judge instead of another bill from the parking space owner.

For all we know the owner might have thrown it away himself, and OP has no clue who it belongs to anyway.

So yeah personally I would just throw it away.

Use some cellotape and stick it where all these many mailboxes are. The thing has no name on it so that's fine and the "owner" might recognize it/is waiting for it/lost it.

Or chuck in the next public mailbox - the post has a job to do. Therefore they may return it to the issuer - at least they will know recipient did not receive it.

You went through the trouble opening a thread on a forum, you might as well do one of the two things now. Or because now you know you got nothing to worry about you just bin it?

Re: Received misdirected parking fine

I agree, Curley.

If the person who is being charged this fee/fine does not know about it, then they run the risk of missing the payment deadline and then being charged extra penalties. It seems a pity to let that happen to anyone.

From what it seems, OP can see the name of the issuer. I'd suggest he/she pop the fine in an envelope and post it to them with a brief note (even an anonymous one will do, if OP doesn't want to get involved): "I found this payment slip. I do not know to whom it is addressed. I'm sending the payment slip back to you because it is possible that the person to whom you issued it, does not know about it."

That may possibly save someone a lot of trouble.

Take it [to] the police?
Why?
- It is not fine.
- It is not from the police.
- It is (yet) a civil law matter.
