| | Company to do pickup of Ricardo products
Hi,
It looks like most Ricardo sellers don't like to go through the hassle of boxing and sending their goods so most of them you have to pickup.
Does anyone have any experience of getting a company to pickup a product which is not boxed/wrapped? Perhaps DHL will do it if I can't find anyone else.
Thanks!

I’ve asked myself this question on multiple occasions and have looked at numerous options. As with anything else, if you are willing to pay enough you can find someone. Are you looking for packing, crating, and transport to your door? I’ve never seen anyone specifically specialize in Ricardo pickups.
Also, just because someone advertises as pickup only doesn’t mean they won’t ship it. They might just need financial motivation. If someone doesn’t have boxes, packing material, tape, labels readily available and has to wait at the Post, that’s a pretty big chunk of time and effort.
As an incentive, you could try offering the seller 50chf + Porto
That should be enough to get results for normal items. If necessary, you could even send them a box and packing material.

Try pickwings.ch, a new player on the Swiss transport market they might also pick up unpacked items.
We have used them several times for shipping expensive, insured furniture around. No problems so far.
edit: yes they do pick up unpacked, however, they might not take any liability for damage.

I will pack and ship anything that the post will deliver. We have house service in our village so I don't have to go to the post office. But many people just do not have the time or patience to offer this kind of service. Most buyers expect the shipping costs to reflect just postage costs, and never consider the cost of materials.
That being said, we have a bulky item for sale on Ricardo and the buyer was willing to pay us to deliver it. However, upon delivery if the buyer didn't think the item was as it appeared in the ad he could refuse it. He was unwilling to travel here to look at it first. As per the Ricardo rules, if you pick the item up, you can check it out and refuse to take it. If the buyer arranges shipping, the seller doesn't need to worry about refusal.

I really rate Ricardo (check out their brand new logo!), not used any other swiss sites but not had any bad experiences to date buying and selling (other than you sometimes meet some weirdos )
I suggest when searching, select the criteria for the delivery type you want, saves you having to bid on objects that are pick up only. There are way more items for sale with delivery possibilities than not - here are the latest stats.
Avec frais de port - 1415540
Livraison gratuite - 142385
Retrait - 149540
Clearly though for bigger items, it would not be worth shipping them - usually items through the post for up to 18 francs or so.

Not nice! And expensive-10% of the selling price is paid to them! It used to be a small payment for a 14 day ad. No 10 % at the end. They are a pack of greedy bastards. Its owned by Tamedia so that explans it completely. BOYCOTT them!

I agree the cost of completing a sale got more expensive, as well as the promoting of items (a la Google) but still the people bid lots and pay when they win (and as a buyer no extra costs at the end)
I buy things on eBay sometimes, but I would never sell anything on there as no doubt it would be someone from bulgaristan. |

I was tempted to offer some comments on the state of their software development and quality assurance efforts but decided against. | This user would like to thank Rjellsch for this useful post: | |
