Where to buy vignette 2020?

This might be trivial and double posted. But I couldnt find it anywhere.. Where can I buy the vignette for 2020?

Does it really last 14 months? From beiginning Dec 2019 to end Jan 2020?

Post office or Gas station!

Some places also do offers in December where you can get it for 30 bucks instead of 40 if you spend a certain amount of money. Keep your eyes open!

Lasts until end of Jan of the following year.

The same usual places as since 1985:

Border posts
Post offices
Gas stations
Denner For CHF 35 if you buy goods for CHF 100
Aldi CHF 29.90 if you buy goods for CHF 100
your charity.

Yes, the vignette 20XY is valid from 1 December 20XY-1 up to 31 January 20XY+1. Expect checks at first week of February.

Today (January 31st) is the last day you can legally drive on the Autobahn with the last year's vignette.

Expect police checks at autobahn entrances and exits tomorrow and also next week.

I realised last night, I'd bought 2 in december but never got around to sticking them to the window (well one to a window, the other to a fork leg).

I'm not sure how the rest of you remove them, but I put a dish cloth on the outside of the windscreen and pour hot water on it to soften the glue. it peels off easy then.

I use the tool, they sell in the gas shops, makes sence if you have to replace more than one, and also works with other windows sticker…

I use a glass ceramic hob scraper to remove the sticker and then some alcohol to remove the glue.

I did a test using:
- 95% ethanol (Brennsprit)
- Acetone free nail polish remover consisting of ethyl acetate and isopropyl alcohol (propan-2-ol), plus some other stuff
- Hand disinfectant (Sterillium) consisting of 75% propan-1-ol and propan-2-ol, plus some other stuff.

From all those the Sterillium hand disinfectant had the best result.

I did not have pure isopropyl alcohol but that might work even a bit better then the misused hand disinfectant.

PS: The rules for motorcycle is that you have to but is on an easily accessible and non-interchangeable part (Art. 3 Abs.2 lit. b NSAV https://www.admin.ch/opc/de/classifi...940/index.html). Unlike the Austrian Vignette, it is allowed to put the Swiss vignette out of sight, like under the seat (but not on the seat). The non-interchangeable part is handled liberally. Strictly it would mean the main frame. In reality however any part which can not be easily swapped by the common folk like fork or swing arm is good enough. Fairing parts are a gray zone. On the seat or the back of the license plate is certainly not ok.

If it is impossible to find such a spot on your motorcycle you can put the vignette on a copy of the vehicles gray card.
See Section 4 in Swiss Customs guideline 15-01: https://www.ezv.admin.ch/ezv/de/home...rsabgaben.html

Sterillium with regular plastic scraper works like a charm with no artifacts to remain on the windshield - takes a few minutes

Realized yesterday but out in the sticks where I was nobody sold them and the post-office was closed for lunch-break. I sure hope I will remember to get one before I hit the highway

I leave the old ones on usually, the garage gets rid of them before m.o.t.
There are entire threads here on how to get them off.

Re: Where to buy vignette 2020?

I know it might sound like stating the obvious but a quick guide how to remove an old vignette again.
1. Soak sponge with water and apply it on windscreen with vignette.
2. Use blade e.g. Swiss knife or anything flat and sharp.
3. After it came off easily, clean with water or detergent debris of glue.
4. Apply a new vignette on.
5. Have a glass of wine to celebrate the success

But you could always get a few people here complaining that it's unfair that they bought a new vignette and are banned from driving for 12 months and therefore are looking for a recommended lawyer to get a refund of the 35 odd chf they're missing out on.
