Walchwil train schedules after SBB project

I am going to live in Walchwil in 2021 and by that time the project of add double track in Walchwil rail way will be completed.

I was wondering in 2021 will trains other than regional train S2 stop over at Walchwil station? Before the project, there are IR46 and RE2048 trains run from Arth Goldau to Zug and there is one stop at Walchwil station. I would like to know if it is likely that in 2021, the IR or RE train will stop at Walchwil.

Many thanks for your help

Ask the SBB? If it isnĎt planned, they are the ones who may know if they plan it in 2021.

The SBB can be quite helpful when you have questions of this nature. We looked at a property some years ago with a track nearby which the real estate agent told us was rarely used for freight trains. So we wrote the SBB to obtain the specific details. They replied promptly with very different information to what the agent told us.

If you have already planned a move which cannot be cancelled then it may be a bit too late to worry about the train schedule.

The fact is you can move to a location with a certain bus /train timetable which can change depending on usage. You can be lucky or unlucky.

Re: Walchwil train schedules after SBB project

Official information says that after the construction works it will be possible for the S2 to run every 30' (before it was 60'):

https://company.sbb.ch/de/ueber-die-...en-kunden.html

No new services are mentioned. If possible I would write the SBB as suggested

You're in the groove - Wachwil [sic] is the place to be! Sometimes the trains even stop

this can theoretically happen anywhere, but in contrast to other countries, railway timetables are pre-published in a consultation phase and people can object. Sometimes things get changed (or indeed left unchanged) because of people who objected.

Oh wow, Wachwil huh? I head that it’s one of the best place to live in Switzerland! Not to mention that the weather there is constantly chilly right? You will never have to worry about sweating like crazy in the summer. I actually had a chance to visit Wachwil once years ago. If my memory serves me right, then I chose a random tour called das Europa-Spezial . To be honest, the tour turned out be way better than I expected it to be. Even though the city is rather small, everyone was so friendly! I went to a coffee shop and tried to buy a cup of Latte with my little knowledge of German. I was a bit shy but a local Swiss woman was gladly to help me out! Anyways, best traveling experience of my life

Walchwil is more of a village (and that is being generous) We have about 3,500 people living here, a lot of expats. (About 1/3)
Regarding weather, no, it's not chilly, actually it's one of the warmest in central Switzerland and does have a unique microclimate. [I can't remember the details, but something about being one of the only places where you can grow kiwis] (The fruit!)

We have lived here for 10 years and while a lot of people criticize it, as it's just a sleepy 'suburb', we have absolutely loved it!
