Parking Question Zurich

I am looking for a parking space for a few months in Zurich for a student who will be here for a limited time. Unfortunately, the blue park-karte won't work in this instance, but the person will need to park a car in an affordable way.

I've looked at homegate.ch, but it's usually for longer-term and many of the car parks are just too expensive. Blue zone cards per day work out pretty expensive too and it's quite a lot of admin work just to keep them updated.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there anything like air bnb for parking spots?

Re: Parking Question Zurich

Just approach people who are offering, be honest that you only want to rent for some months and are willing to pay some extra due to the short term.

If it is only for weekend trips to home he could consider parking outside Zürich, I've seen somebody in Adliswill offering outside places for 50,-/month in his own "garden"

Re: Parking Question Zurich

Could you define "affordable" in this specific case?

Also, are you open to alternatives, e.g. discussing why the person really has to park in Zurich? Maybe there are cheaper solutions. I guess a student coming from a few months can be quite flexible under many aspects.

In Venice we're used to people asking every day "how can reach Venice by car and park cheaply", well, it's hard to provide the expected answer, but we know what they really want is visit Venice and take a lot of pictures, and that is easily arrangeable...

Cheers, good idea. I'll have a look into it.

Well since the person involved doesn't have a salary then it needs to be really affordable <100CHF per month.

When I was looking for apartments I read that an average price for private parking spots is around 150 CHF/month, so that's probably out of question.

I've read on Tripadvisor that there are parking spots at train stations in the range 40-50 CHF/month, I don't know what the conditions are. The idea is that people will leave the car there and enter Zurich by public transport. A monthly subscription for the central zone costs 85 CHF. SBB site is currently taking a coffee break, you can search later for "P+Rail". Total price will be a little more than 100 CHF but he'll save on fuel and fines.

Apart from that, traveling in ZRH is much easier by public transport, driving a car in Zurich is not much fun.

Re: Parking Question Zurich

affordable parking = those words don't couple that well around here

There's Park + Rail from SBB. Indeed, the EN page is down but DE one is working fine. They say 30 to 160 CHF for monthly abo depending on the station https://www.sbb.ch/de/bahnhof-servic...-and-rail.html
