I used to have this problem when I lived in the country. I heard that cat hair could help, and never got them again after I put my cat's hairs in an old pair of tights underneath the bonnet. Dont know if the garage mechanics thought I was kinky or not when my car went in for a service, but I didnt get any martens thereafter.

I spoke with the guys at the Passat repair shop and they tell me that the only way is with a kind of electric fence mounted under the car and a regular engine wash. The Martin laughs at everything else. | | | | | Really, wow. Would make sense as the Kodiaq and Passat are the same car underneath.
Did you end up getting the electric fence?

It was expensive, and although the insurance pays when there is damage, it is about the inconvenience and hassle when the car won't start.

If you call an exterminator they will, at best, catch it and take it elsewhere. But if it’s a youngster or a pregnant female you are on your own.

Did McTavge ever report back on those living in his attic? Which reminds me, OP, in that thread (can't find it just now) it was claimed they can be distracted with chocolate. I'm afraid outside your house that would raise the population though.

Well, why not put down some fouine* food a short distance from your car. Everyone is happy, the fouine survives and you get to see the poo.

Fouine food = hens eggs. They love 'em!
(Source: we have a b@$t@rd fouine in our attic in France.)

I had a colleague in the greater Nyon area that was particularly hit with fouines eating car cables. She apparently had to get mesh wiring installed in the underbody of the car to prevent it from happening. This worked. Call around to some garages in the area, they know the problem, and are adept in this fix.

Tom | | | | | Indeed. Our neighbours in Belgium lost their rabbits due to them being attacked by Marten.
It was a horrific sight for their kids to see when they went out to feed them in the morning.
