Yes, but I bought a non-refundable flight, so it might be pushing it. Also, I’m quite bad about going home, so this will make sure that I do.
Mine were also non refundable, both Swiss and BA, both refunded. You are not pushing it, it’s the law! If they cancel then they have to refund. If you are happy with a voucher then that’s fine... but don’t be surprised or happy with the service that they are offering, they are just doing what they have to do!! Not trying to make you feel bad btw, sorry!

Re: Cancel Swiss flight or wait for them to cancel?

I contacted LastMinute to ask for m full refund since Swiss cancelled the flights and I haven't received any emails yet about it. In the LM site the flight still shows as active.

They expect me to get charged to call them on a UK number and they have no online contact form or email...ridiculous. I had FullFlex which has an email to contact so I did that but I find it unprofessional LastMinute has no online chat or contact form and you're expected to stay on the phone for half an hour while they charge you whatever they want.

I doubt I'll be using them again.

Could you use Skype? I had to pay to phone Swiss but I used Skype as I know my 20minute call on my UPC mobile number would be quite a bit. I actually do this for any number abroad now as it works out a lot cheaper.

Now they are already cancelling all my flights in May. Again without notification.... they just disappear from my profile.

Shouldn´t be that difficult to send an email?

I just checked mine. I have a return flight to Schiphol early May, the outbound has been removed, but the return is still showing. I agree, it shouldn't be difficult for their system to automatically email you when a flight is cancelled. I'll call them later to change to a weekend in June, hopefully NL will allow people to fly in by then.

Re: Cancel Swiss flight or wait for them to cancel?

Hi everyone just wanted to update to say we moved back to Zurich this week. ZH flughafen was empty of course - there were no temp checks but plenty of hand sanitizer and distance standing labels. Only 15 people on our flight too. fyi we flew from Singapore to Zurich direct on Singapore. airlines (Swiss had cancelled our previous flight but only a week before flying and will reimburse us on a new one - when that occurs however is not confirmed. We had suspected this would happen so we pre-empted by booking the SQ one)

We are just happy to have made it here. (also it was possible as both HB and I are Swiss)

I think computer systems are messed up right now. I was due to fly back to CH with American Airlines. Two of my three legs got cancelled, and I got a message to call them because they were unable rebook me. The system would normally do it automatically but there were simply no other flights. The website clearly stated they were overwhelmed with call volume so no worries, call us when you can.

But now the trip has vanished from my profile, not even the first part from when I went to the States is there.

I have the message:
Your flight booking cannot be displayed completely. Please contact your travel agent directly.

I'm booked directly with Swiss in early May. Is this similar to what you have or there is nothing at all in your booking profile? I read in a previous announcement on their website that they had automatically cancelled all bookings made.

I cannot edit the booking but seems I can do an online check-in (but not going to check if I really can as we won't take the flight).
Hopefully we'll be eligible for a refund.

That is the message I have as well when I try to add the booking to my profile. If you want to check what flights are available just use their booking tool and see if your flight still shows up (mine don´t)

Re: Cancel Swiss flight or wait for them to cancel?

I got a refund from Swiss after a cancelled flight to Japan. They did suggest alternative routes and to rebook for later at first. But cancellation = refund, even for my inflexible bargain economy ticket. It is in their T&C's to refund if a flight is cancelled, see Articles 9 and 10 so stand your ground if they're not very helpful on the phone.

This is good news and long overdue!!!! I think airlines making it difficult to get refunds and therefore breaking the law are going down in their customers estimations....I am waiting still for refund from Easyjet having gone through various ways of trying to contact phone, mail, chat etc. Hopefully they are finally getting it!
Thanks for sharing link

Re: Cancel Swiss flight or wait for them to cancel?

I‘m having trouble with Edelweiss. I was cancelled on March 18th and they told me it would be refunded within 2 weeks, but as of now nothing. I called yesterday and they said the agent had cancelled it on the 18th and it was stuck in the finance department and they didn’t know why!!!

An Iberian flight I had for the return journey on April 7th was refunded within 4 days of being cancelled.

It makes you wonder what’s going on

Yes, that's the message showing on mine too. I had that last month and I called (as I said earlier on this thread) and it was easy to change that flight to the one that's coming up in 2 weeks which they have now cancelled again. I have a flight to go to NL end of May with German Wings buy via Dusseldorf, if the DE /NL border is not open then I'll have to change that too.

Just got an email from Swiss offering me a 50.00 CHF voucher of any future booking this year (on top of refunding or changing the upcoming flight). If you haven't got that email, the form to fill in is here.

Important to note that if you're opting for change with the voucher, you might still get stuck with paying the difference between original fare and the new fare.

The border between the netherlands and germany was never closed, it is still open.
German Wings ended its operations due to coronavirus and will fly as eurowings.

Grumpy said "if".

Getting into NL is not an issue at the moment, getting back to Germany may take some documentation to show that you are only transiting, which he could with a plane ticket.
