| | Cancel Swiss flight or wait for them to cancel?
Hello everyone,
Got an email today from Swiss saying that I can cancel my upcoming flight (30th march for 8days) to NYC if I want to but to check their T&Cs if I do. It seems that even due to the Covid-19 travel issues etc, that they won't issue a full refund if I cancel it.
A report out of the UK today has stated that if the customer cancels the flight then they will only get the taxes back as they are cancelling and not the airline. If the airline cancels or amends to a date that doesn't suit then they have to offer a free refund.
A bit confused as on their website they seem to be stating contradictory advice. Does anyone have any very recent experience or tips? I stayed on for nearly 2hrs waiting last night, no answer via their call centre. tried daily for around a week! Twitter is useless too!
Thank you
J

Thanks for the link.
It looks like the only thing that's changed is the 'use by' date on the ticket which has been extended to 31 December. I've been checking their site daily as we have flights booked with Swiss to London on 7 May for our nephew's wedding, which is looking extremely likely to be postponed because the bride is a doctor, as are a large number of the guests. | This user would like to thank Blueangel for this useful post: | |

So his visit and your repetitive detailed descriptions of his fine looks was just a tease? |

I have a flight booked for this Saturday to Schiphol, coming back next Wednesday. I just got an email saying they had rebooked me on other flights the same day, but of course I really don't want to travel at the moment.
I tried re-booking online but was told I had to call. I had to wait less than 10 minutes for an agent and it took her 5 minutes to change my flight to a weekend in May (hopefully we can fly then!). The service was great. Fast and friendly and no additional charges (even though I had booked economy originally with no changes allowed). Top marks Swiss!

Same here | | | | | Just got through on the UK number. Basically no refund at all if flight isn’t cancelled, wait 1day before departure, if it’s cancelled (which it will be because US boarders are down) then full refund is given. Or take a credit note now for value of flight.
Uk number is: +44 3456 010956
9mins waiting, 5mins talking.

TBH I was expecting a much longer wait and was preparing to visit their centre at Paradaplatz if I couldn't get through.

Got an e-mail from EasyJet to say I could change the date of my flights Geneva/ Luton/Geneva by logging into my account and go to 'manage bookings' - but every time I try I get a message with a code saying this is not possible. All the phone numbers given are not connected- and they are not answering e-mails ...
Any idea? Thanks.

Tempted to don the hazmat suit and potter up to the airport, but seems we have a few months of re-booking headroom.

I got through every time on the UK number. Only waited around 6mins each time. You don't have to be based in the UK for them to help you on the UK number

I have just tried the UK number without success after 10 mins. Thanks for the number. I'll try again tomorrow.

I got a cancellation email regarding my flight on Monday and called today using the swiss contact number. Option 3 English took be about 10min to connect but it worked out. It was my first attempt to call and i called then around 2pm. For a refund it was quick and easy overall call took around 20min. Another friend of mine called this number as well and got connected after 15min. Good luck! | Quote: | | | | | Same - got an answer 1 in 10 attempts, but then selecting option 3 (IIRC) for English I got an English "your call cannot be completed" message. They told me that it could be some months as the refund team was off work due to coronavirus!
Regarding the number: very strange how some can get through whilst others don’t even get the options to choose English and the line goes dead.

Swiss has now started cancelling flights for the end of the month. No notification, no email, nothing...... There still is one daily connection but apparently it was too much of a bother to rebook me... Very nice....
Would have been nice to have a chance to rebook that flight to a later date.....

All my flights are in my Swiss profile and that has all my contact details.
