Anonymous driver hit my car in a car park in Vevey today - any recourse?

Probably a hopeless cause but someone drove into me while I was parked in a car park in Vevey today doing a fair bit of damage. Anything I could do?

Did you get a licence plate? Video of it? Anything?

Call the police. You will need a police report number for an insurance claim. I hope you haven’t left the scene of the crime.

No, I just returned to my car and there was a big scrape on the drivers side. Took photos but that’s it. Worth reporting to police then?

I'd suggest starting with calling your insurance. Mine has, for example, an explicit thingy for covering one of this cases per year.

Call your insurance, see what they say.

Alternatively, or as a last resort, you could have the damage paid by the Fonds National Suisse de Garantie (Nationaler Garantiefonds). IIRC you'll have 1'000 deductible, no effect on your running insurance.

if you are covered for parking accidents, just give your insurance a call and it will be fixed . No deductible. I have had this happen on many occasions and never a problem to get it fixed. I my case I just gave my car to my garage and they handled everything. Never received a call from the insurance nor have I ever seen a bill

Just checked my insurance - I don't have parking damage. Drat.
