Still awaiting your easyJet refund?

Our flights were cancelled at easter.. Submitted a refund request and received a request number on the 29th Apr .. Heard nothing since.

Did you get a refund already? Still waiting?

Same here, still waiting. Also for the Swiss flights cancelled as from March.

Re: Still awaiting your easyJet refund?

Still waiting, flights at end of May.

These guys can take money from your credit/debit card in microseconds, but it takes months to reverse the transactions?

Also had an update for the EasyJet app last week. One thing being added was the ability for them to accept their own vouchers for payment. What took so long?

Re: Still awaiting your easyJet refund?

It's a pretty poor show really.. Indeed they can take the money easy enough, it's a trivial task to refund it if they wanted to.

I don't want a voucher, I probably won't fly this year and actually the prices are crazy for the rest of the year for routes they are opening, only those routes they can fill. Might be some time before they open less lucrative routes.

Re: Still awaiting your easyJet refund?

We had a battle but did get a full refund from flights to Sardinia at end of April.
In the end I emailed following address: esupport@easyjet.com
You have to put in a a subject title like this, booking ref/date/EN They won't respond if you don't, in the email text explain you're requesting refund due to covid

K16X3NH/23.04.20/EN. This was what I put in subject line

We managed to get money back in bank account a week later. Hopefully that email address is still on the go, I wonder if they might have changed it by now, they seemed to have done everything to avoid paying refunds!
Hope it helps!

Well .. More like don't bother us for 90 days..

...
We are working hard to process your request as quickly as possible. Due to the exceptionally high volumes currently being processed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we will try our best to complete your request within 28 days following submission. Please do not contact us regarding a previous request unless it has been more than 90 days since you made your original submission.
...

Only takes 90 seconds to book a flight, 90 days to refund it is crap.

My Easyjet flight was cancelled in April. I have immediately asked for a refund and still nothing. But then Swiss is equally non-responsive..... they had even closed off the refund request page so you had to call them......

How long after you requested the refund did the confirmation email come? You´re right, just the confirmation on the website but no email confirmation.

Re: Still awaiting your easyJet refund?

If you want money back from EasyJet, be ready to put on a fight!

I've had two (horrible) experiences dealing with EasyJet concerning refunds due to delay/ cancellations. The long waiting time was expected, and you must be persistent with follow-up emails. The first time, after some email exchanges over a few months' time, they told me that they sent me a cheque by post although they asked for my bank account details previously. Obviously, I never received the cheque (and I seriously think they were just lying). In the end, I had to resort to aviation dispute resolution services both times. Luckily, these services were free! (not the kind of companies that take commission from you)

I think i got the reference number about a day after submitting the form on the website..

It's a lot of peoples money they are sitting on .. 500.- or so for me plus a couple of million other people in a similar holding pattern.

Re: Still awaiting your easyJet refund?

Hello,

I requested a refund on April 20th and got the money back in my account on Friday (12th June).

I received an email confirmation for my refund request with 24 hours. You also get an e-mail just before the money arrives.

Re: Still awaiting your easyJet refund?

Similar to other airlines. What I realised is that Airlines work on a credit model i.e. they sell you goods which are to be redeemed in the future and use your cash to fund their operations. That is why refunds are super slow because their model is based on you paying now and only flying in the future. Not sure how sustainable such a model is in the future.

They had been pretty good at the beginning but it seems they're not even giving out vouchers any more, I suppose they want people to use them much later in the year.
