Publibike Plan Changes ???

Does anyone know what has changed about Publibike service plans?

I just got a standardized email say my plan has been automatically converted to a new plan structure with new plan names with links to the new plan structure but nowhere do they spell out what the new changes or fees are.

Always feels shifty when things are handled this way.

Looks like they increased fees significantly for the first 30 minutes of ebikes and took away the ability to get the first 30minutes free.

Starting to ask myself why not just use the same amount of money (or less) to own my own bicycle?

Any observations on plan changes?

We at PubliBike have been working hard and are pleased to introduce a completely new subscription offer:
QuickBike becomes B-Quick (with no obligation and no subscription fees)
EasyBike/FreeBike per month become B-Flex (CHF 9.-/month)
EasyBike per year becomes B-Fit (CHF 99.-/year)
FreeBike per year becomes B-More (CHF 179.-/year)

Isn't this just a price increase and if so, can you please reply to this post by transparently spelling out what were the old prices and what are the new prices?

Hey John_H, that's not the proper way to talk to a customer. I request to talk to your supervisor immediately

Thanks. Sorry. When you cut and pasted "We at Publibike....". without quotes, I thought you would really saying you were associated in some way with Publibike.

Nevertheless, thanks for taking the time to offer some info.

Re: Publibike Plan Changes ???

I just reached out to them and they confirmed their pricing has changed. I was quite happy with the 9 CHF / month option, which included free 30-minutes rides on the normal bikes. That option is only available now under the yearly option for 99 CHF.

yes, and no longer on ebikes as well. Looks like all the rates have changed, some prohibitively so. Some cases just cheaper to buy your own bike.

Extremely annoying when they treat loyal members like we're stupid.

They would gather more trust and goodwill from their members if they were just transparent and came clean upfront that as costs have risen they need to increase costs to remain strong and profitable.

Rule of them: If you get correspondence from them that starts "Good news!" this means you are about to lose 30 minutes trying to figure out how your agreement with them has just been made worse.

Re: Publibike Plan Changes ???

When is a 50+% increase in what you pay ever good news :-S

EasyBike was 60 per year and morphed into Bfit at 99 per year.

However, it is still cheaper than using e scooters where they charge by distance as well.

Occasionally, I can't be bothered to wait 10 mins to stand on the next packed tram. So, I can walk a short distance, take a publibike to a short distance from my destination and its usually quicker than the tram. Total cost about 1CHF per week (but will go up to 1.5 in a years time!!) with some bonus exercise. Doing the same thing on a scooter costs me between 3 and 5 CHF per journey depending on the route.
