Just keep in mind that you need to complete a form earliest 48 hours beforehand? Otherwise they can deny you entering the country

Do not have the link here right now, something on gov.uk and provide journey details before travel

There is no 48 hour notice period.
Confused now, I did not say notice period. And yes, English is not my first language. Where did I say notice period?

Really??
You replied “Really?” To Landers saying there is no 48 hour notice period... which implies you think there is!

Re: Travel to UK

I am in the UK at the moment, overnight ferry from Ijmuiden in the Netherlands to Newcastle last night. You will need to complete this form

https://visas-immigration.service.go...r-locator-form

This was checked at passport control at Newcastle.

When I checked in at Ijmuiden with DFDS, the assistant at the counter told me to make sure to have this ready to show on arrival in the UK, apparently there had been whingeing from UK passport control about passengers arriving without this document. Officially you can be handed a hundred quid fine for not having it.

Mikee, I hope your travel is uneventful and you see your dad soon

Edit: form can only be filled out 48 hours or less before arrival in the UK. The system halts if you try to do it any sooner

So uninformative!

Had your first post stated that your father is very ill and you need to fly to Manchester, the responses would have been much more friendly....
Stop please.. I asked for advice on travel alternatives to flying.
Shouldnt have to expect hostile replies whatever my situation.
