Help!! CHF reward for video showing speed sign
I have similar problem after 25 years clean driving in Switzerland!
Long shot I know 🙂 but…Does anybody have a video recording of driving along the road out of Liestal towards the Road To Gempen on or just before 4th April 2021 before 15:30
Someone changed the speed signs and I need some proof to show what it was showing as I passed.
Reward if video helps me with my case!!
John

It is exiting downtown Lugano, where the limit is 50, and heading to Grancia and the autostrada, where the limit changes to 60, well signed, after the intersection with TL.
Tom | | | | | It's a really dodgy piece of road to be fair. Both ways.
At least they have endless construction going on there now so you're coming into 80kph limit to a motorway or coming off 80 limit from it.
Not surprised police is milking people there

As much as I sympathize, it really makes no difference as you are being fined on the current limit in force, not on what was there before - even if it was higher just a few minutes earlier.
You could look at a GPS which has not been updated, or try Google Street View if you really want a shot at trying to fight it.
Otherwise you could try the canton or municipality (no sure which road it is) as they have to keep records.
I also believe, any reduction in speed limits, unless it's an urgent situation, has to be approved. So you could check that.
I wish you luck, but it's probably best just to pay the fine unless you risk losing your license, then it may be worth trying an appeal of some sort.
PS. As a mater of curiosity, what was the new limit and what speed were you doing?

Can’t furnish a video as requested but it might help to pin point the stretch in question…unless I’m totally off, you do mean this road? Wouldn’t have noticed any recent changes myself. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@47.47...7i16384!8i8192 https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@47.47...7i16384!8i8192 https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@47.47...7i16384!8i8192 https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@47.46...7i13312!8i6656 | This user would like to thank LtSoftDrink for this useful post: | |

John | | | | | As dashcams are are not considered legal in Switzerland, few people have them. So good luck.

That is a myth. Just like flushing toilets being forbidden after 10PM

There's a difference between not being legally permissible (will police or insurance companies accept data from a Swiss dashcam?) and illegal.

This was the issue somebody changed the sign (to 50 with a stroke through ie 80) for an unknown period of time. https://translate.google.com/transla...d16477801.html |

Hey thanks. The first one was the correct maps address
Here's a link to the newspaper article about the sign being changed by a prankster... https://translate.google.com/transla...d16477801.html |

Any legal insurance?
Hopefully you'll get some leeway with that sign tampering, but even so..... well you know.

You cannot share or publicise the footage without becoming liable under privacy laws. Additionally, you will struggle to have footage accepted by a court in anything other than an accident situation.
For this reason, most people don't bother. I had a Cycliq 12 on my commuter bike for a while, but don't really bother anymore.

I'm not convinced that the OP doing 102 in what they thought was an 80 will cut much ice...
