bike with extended cargo space

any recommendations for a bike/website for a bike with extended cargo space e.g. to fit bags plus a child seat (or maybe even two!).

i don't want one of the giant bucket/wheelbarrow types. also interested in non-electric bikes.

lastly: one that doesn't cost as much as a car!

Re: bike with extended cargo space

The Surly Big Dummy can be modified to accommodate a child's seat. The Big Easy is the electric model.

You're welcome.

What you really want is a backfiets.

I'd guess you're looking at around chf2k starting price, so only as much as a very old and small second-hand car...

Re: bike with extended cargo space

I see quite a lot of the Tern GSD around town:

Comprehensive review here:

Yuba also have some options although not noticed them specifically over here so not sure on availability:

it seems like buying will be the problem. veloplus sell only one model of gsd and it is sold out...

Just saw this: https://cyclingtips.com/2020/08/tern...th-more-cargo/

Could be why the old model was out of stock?

Re: bike with extended cargo space

I use a standard child buggy towed behind an ebike as a shopping wagon. One advantage is the wide berth given by most motorists. However my feeling is that the motor on a normal ebike is not designed for the increased weight, having problems on hills.
Do the cargo ebikes have a different motor ?

there's been a general reduced bike availability due to covid-induced demand. same as for webcams etc.

bosch have a specific cargo line of motors with greater torque.

Re: bike with extended cargo space

It would indeed be interesting what you're being given as an estimated time of delivery.

My guess is that you could still save up a lot of money until it's delivered, if you order now....

Article in German: https://www.velojournal.ch/magazin/2...s-im-test.html They tested several models. Scroll to the table with the results if reading the whole thing is tough going.
