Re: Speed Limit Solution

I'd like to see a little more leeway than just the simple camera flash..

I got a 160.- fine this week, 96 in an 80 zone.. Reduced to 91 with 5kph margin..

Long mountain road, uphill, behind a caravan doing 55ish .. When it was safe to do so I overtook it. I exceeded the speed limit for probably a couple of seconds just where the camera was of course.
I think it was a safe manoeuvre, better to be on the wrong side of the road for a shorter time, I don't think a cop would have fined me seeing it.. But the camera has no context.

But hey.. that's life.

oh and several off the shelf GPS's can read road signs too, google it

Does that mean they have embedded cameras which look into the road, or they just reply on their maps?

For off-the-shelf GPS device, there is usually no camera so only based on maps. But its been 4-5 years since I've scanned the GPS market, so maybe the recent models do have camera added

detect speed cameras -> this is illegal in CH

beep if you are above the speed limit -> this is allowed in CH. Can either be Phone-app/GPS-device/Built-in which relies on stored map info. Recent models may have camera added to detect the actual road sign.
