Giving up my car.. what is the process?

Hi all. After 18 years of faithful service, my 2002 Toyota Corolla now needs at least 4K CHFs of repairs to pass the MFK. Needless to day, the car isn't even worth 400. So, after long deliberations, I've decided to give up the car, cancel all insurance, TCS, etc. I have a General Abo for public transport, train station and shopping are all well within walking/biking distance, the car was just a luxury. Plus my wife has a car, so with a bit of planning it should be doable.

Question: what is the protocol? My garage told me they'd take it off me for spare parts or export market. But how do I go about cancelling everything? Anyone done this before?

Could be that the garage does it for you, but here the process:
Drive car to garage.
Remove license plates.
Go to SAN/STVA
Drop license plate in box and get gray card cancelled.
Give cancelled gray card to garage.
A few days later follow up with insurance that they got the notification that car is no longer plated/gray card cancelled.

Road tax will be reimbursed for the rest of the year (you might get a post cashiers cheque).
Insurance will be reimbursed for the rest of they year. (Should be transferred to your account)

Oilleaks or rust.

The rest should be regular maintenance.

Main damage is rust on the brakes and wheel mechanism: the car is always parked outside, and with corona lockdown I've been working from home for months meaning the car just sat in the driveway most of the time. Plus a slight oil leak from the engine meaning they would have to completely disassemble it. Plus headlight covers which are so scratched they need replacing, and for an 18 year old model that costs 400 bucks each. The car runs fine, but it's reached the end of it's life.
