You'll need to stay home for 10 days.

Re: What to expect when landing in Switzerland from England

Nothing happens. You go home, you have to stay in for 10 days.
Maybe they'll check up, maybe they won't.
If it's not too late on Sunday, go to the Coop at the SBB on your way home.
Get a friend to shop for you or get the Coop delivery.
JustEat or UberEats, plus the local Pizza delivery place.

As said stay home the whole time. You also have to inform your commune/gemeinde that you've come from a country that's on the quarantine list.

Re: What to expect when landing in Switzerland from England

Have you clarified with your employer how your quarantine will be handled?

There is no requirement to pay an employee who is not sick but must quarantine due to having chosen to travel to a listed country.

That said, most employeers are reasonable. Some allow you to work from home if your job is suitable to that, some ask you to take the time from your personal holiday allowance.

I only know of a couple of cases where someone had to take the time unpaid, such as the person was already abroad when the quarantine was implemented and so had not come to an agreement on how to handle the time before the trip, and had already run out of holiday time.

So just a heads-up.

Re: What to expect when landing in Switzerland from England

You flew over to the UK from Switzerland last night to see family.

So you didn't quarantine yourself as required by the UK government for people coming from Switzerland? That's a £100 to £1000 fine you're liable for.

Almost everyone entering the UK - including British nationals - must fill in a ''passenger locator'' form, regardless of whether or not they need to quarantine.

The form asks travellers to provide their contact details and UK address.

If someone who is required to self-isolate does not provide an address, the government will arrange accommodation at the traveller's expense.

For 14 days, starting from the day after arrival, people who are quarantining should not:

Use taxis or public transport to reach their destination on arrival in the UK, if possible
Use public transport or taxis once at their destination
Go to work, school, or public areas
Have visitors except for essential support
Go out to buy food, or other essentials, if they can rely on others

Maybe you should stay where you until the UK quarantine period is over, and then worry about coming back to Switzerland.

In the UK you can isolate at a family home & leave the following day. Perfectly legal. The online form even gives the possibility for a departure date.

I did a day trip to the UK, no problem at all. All info on passenger locator form

Actually think in the U.K. itís now a 10k fine. But as long as he went from airport directly home then goes directly back to the airport, heís not broken the quarantine rules. You can leave the country before the 14 days is up.

It becomes 10k after multiple offences, discount if paid quickly.

You are allowed to take public transport & shop for essential items on the arrival day. Clearly you can return to the airport, nobody will know if you shopped on the way.

Iím not sure I understand the question..... but the U.K. allows you to leave the country before your 14 days quarantine is finished.

So long as you don't breach quarantine on your way back, it seems. Although using public transport and even being at the airport could be construed as a breach of quarantine...

Of course, even before then, you've flown in from a country not on the approved list; you've possibly contaminated your family/friends, so strictly they should now self-isolate, just in case.

It's not a breach, it's absolutely allowed if you are leaving the UK, they can't hold you as a prisoner.

Considering the U.K. is far higher risk than Switzerland, itís probably the other way around

I understood you can isolate in your own accommodation - ISOLATE - eg not spend time with family or friends.

So I could go and visit my daughters if I stayed in the spare guest suite and meals left outside the door - is my understanding, until quarantine over. Then quarantine again on return.

Re: What to expect when landing in Switzerland from England

This is potentially vital information

Are you saying you can fly To London and then fly back to Zurich a day later and you only need to be 10 days quarantined in Zurich

I thought you have to respect the Uk 14 day rules

Re: What to expect when landing in Switzerland from England

Many people who used to fly back each week or every other week are now stuck in Zurich because they cannot take two weeks Uk quarantine time off in each visit

If that is not the case and people can fly in and out using a rented car and staying at their own apartment that would be odd

Not true.
There is also an exemption for people who live in the UK & work abroad & travel to the UK at least once a week. If you did this you would definitely be dual tax resident so would qualify as living in the UK.
Plenty of jobs are exempt from Quarantine, Airline staff, bus & coach drivers, delivery drivers.

ďThis is because it can take up to 14 days for coronavirus symptoms to appear. If youíre travelling to the UK for less than 14 days, you will be expected to self-isolate for the length of your stay, but you can travel directly to your place of departure.Ē
