Switching from A1 to A - bike requirements for Grundkurs?

Does anyone know if there is a specific motorbike requirement for Moto Grundkurs 2a and 3 (in order to upgrade license from A1 to A)? Can I attend on scooter of 125cc or I need something more/else? Thanks in advance!

You need an A-class bike.

I knew that for test/prufung I need A class bike, but kind of hoped that for Grundkurs any bike is sufficient...Thanks a lot anyways!

Btw, do I understand correct, that after Jan 1st 2021, in order to upgrade from A1 to A2(35kw limited), you will need to take full 3x4h courses?

Art. 19 Abs. 2 VZV clearly states Applicants for the category A driver's license may not complete the practical basic training with vehicles of subcategory A1. This will not be changed 1.1.2021.

A means either full A or A restricted to 35 kW. (Note "A2" is and will not be used in Switzerland it is A (35 kW) )

This is a bit unclear from reading the new regulations. Fortunately, the federal office in charge, the ASTRA has published a directive on this
particular issue. If you did the A1 Grundkurs before 1.1.2021 you only have to do part 3 of the new Grundkurs. If I am not mistaken this takes around 4 hours.

My daughter completed her A-unlimited course on Saturday, and was pleased to learn that she has a year to take the test, and that in Ticino the tester does NOT sit on the back of the bike as in other cantons!

Also, as she has an A1, the course was only 2x4h, rather than the standard 3x4h.

I believe officially it is 2h (GK 2a) + 4h (GK3), for those who has A1, instead of 4h (GK1) + 4h (GK2) + 4h (GK3) if you start from the scratch. Not sure on what it will be after Dec 31.

PS. I've completed mine two weeks ago.

Selfishly, as I will also be doing a test soon, I would likewise prefer this to not be compulsory in Basel (especially as I intend not to ride with anyone in the back).

However objectively, as our instructor pointed out, to be a "complete" rider you have to be able to prove you can ride with a passenger too. Makes sense.
