Hotel / Istanbul airport flight connection
 

Hi everyone!
Turkish airlines say that there is a hotel included for a friend's 20h layover at Istanbul airport. Does anyone know if it is true, and possible to sleep there? Is it inside the airport? Or does one need to go through all security checks etc?

This used to be very common, but not many western airlines do this anymore.

But the only way to get answers to your question is to ask the airline. I seriously doubt that an airside hotel would be used as these tend to be quite expensive with limited number of rooms etc.

The hotel could be near the airport or just about anywhere. Make sure you have the necessary papers to enter Turkey.

Which sadly gives no specific information apart from:

• Turkish Airlines will select the hotel accommodating passengers.

The bit about making sure to have papers to enter Turkey, and the terms (airside/landside) were already very helpful!

I've had the free stopover hotel with Emirates in Dubai, but because there were a large number of flight delays at the time (Emirates had grounded their A380s), we were given the Premier Inn by the airport, but it's the only Premier Inn I've seen with a rooftop pool.

For Turkish, please check the info here, and check that the message at the top of the page no longer applies.
