I found a ladder to get the Christmas lights up - but it's nearly 4m long...


My Swiss friend says I should be ok to just strap it to the car's roof rack, as long as I put a red "rag or tissue or something" on the back end overhang.


As much as I trust him, I know fines here can be impressive... so was wondering if anyone can corroborate this...

I have checked this with the local police, as I have a pickup the over hang from the rear axle must not be more than 5m! So you should be fine but you must put a flag on anything protruding more than 1 meter past the end of the car, I would put a flag on anyway.
