Train tickets Visp - Bern - Thun

Hello Friends,

I'm looking into a job in Visp and i'm looking into probably living in Thun or Bern. I was told it was about a 25 train ride from Visp to Bern but looking it up on google seems more.

Any other nice you would recommend living in ?

Is there a monthly pass to use the train ?
Any feedback is welcome

Thank you
G.

That is Bern - Thun.
Thun - Visp is another 37 minutes.

I've been living in Thun for the last 3 years. For a family with young children, it's a really nice place to live. The lake is beautiful. To go hiking, it's maximum 1 hour by public transportation. There's not much to do in the evening, which is a minus point for young and sociable people. However, Bern is not that far away.

Bear in mind that if you are not an EU citizen, youíll have to live in Valais if thatís where you are working! Look at Sion/Sierre.

And VS has a few advantages: relatively low taxes and cheap health insurance.

Re: Train tickets Visp - Bern - Thun

Hi there,

Sorry for slightly hijacking this post I hope you dont mind. I'm moving to Solothurn for work in Feb for minimum 1 year and wondering about year-long travel passes. I'd be using trains maybe 4 times a week including most likely a weekly trip to Basel to hop over to Germany for shopping in Weil am Rhein. What would be the best-value pass be for the year?
Any help would be welcome!

The SBB website has all the information you need. What would your commute be?
Note that going weekly to Wheil am Rhine for shopping may be not be that beneficial. Better save your time and money, and learn how to take advantage of local deals at the supermarkets here.
