| | Can i include my partner under my car insurance?
Hi peeps,
Currently I've got my car insurance with AXA and I'm thinking to include now my partner under the same coverage so if she needs to take my car she is covered in case of accident.
Is this usually a possible request in Switzerland? Where I come from there is no need for this, as far as the main driver and the car are insured, an occasional driver would be covered...
Thanks!

Thanks! | | | | | Normally Swiss insurance allows anyone to drive the car, no need to name individual drivers

Thanks! | | | | | The vehicle is insured in CH, not the driver nor owner.

If your girlfriend needs to drive the car more often than you, then you should inform the insurer.
A bit obvious otherwise you'd just ask your 50 year old Swiss mate to insure it for you.

Tom | | | | | Up to a point. It is quite possible for a policy to exclude regular under 25 yo drivers for example (occasional is OK however).

As I found out when she reversed into a friend's car... even though we have parking radar. | The following 3 users would like to thank NotAllThere for this useful post: | |

Thanks! | | | | | Yes it's an option, see FremdLenkerVersicherung. Expect something like 10% premium increase, subject to the details of course.
"occasional" may be defined in a very limiting manner, like, not more than three uses per year. That may well be deemed implausible if she has no car of her own. Perhaps contact your insurance and request feedback in writing (no need to get visited by a salesman for that) with specific reference to your situation.

Tom | | | | | Correct.
The only thing they want specified is drivers under 25.
