personal car importing to Switzerland

i came from Belgium with my personal car. Now I have to go to local customs office to declare my car and have 12 months to register and change to a Swiss plate.

I'm wondering after my declaration, but still with my Belgian plate, within these 12 months, can i still sell my car in Belgium?
any implications here? e.g paying duty here?

AFAIK - it can only be sold after 12 months of being imported. Otherwise you pay customs duty.

I don't see any problem if it's still registered in Belgium. Although technically you would have needed to have exported it from the EU I doubt any record is made of that. In any case there are usually allowances to enable you to do this. I would say just do it.

I think this is only for selling within Switzerland. If you remove the car before the 12 months there's nothing to pay.

Thanks for the reply. Since it's with my Belgian plate, i assume it should be ok to sell it back in Belgium. But concern if Swiss come back to me for customs duty in a later stage.

You get a form (13.20?) when you declare your car at the border. If the car leaves before the 12 months is up I think you just hand it back.
