Please do not get fined for going too slow!

Oh boy, I forgot about that possibility.... what are the limits and fines for that, does someone know?

Nothing predefined AFAIA.
Because you need to be able to adjust to the situation and weather conditions, e.g. including driving at a crawl on the Autobahn due to dense fog and standing still completely (traffic jam).
However a vehicle must be able and legally allowed to go at least at 80km/h to use Autobahn and Autostrasse. That implies a "should" minimum speed under ordinary circumstance.

However, you mustn't (unduly) hinder other traffic participants. Traffic law §26.1 rules that
"Everyone must behave in traffic in such a way that they neither obstruct nor endanger others in the proper use of the road."
A formalised consequence is the regulation that vehicles on the leftmost of three lanes on the Autobahn must be allowed to drive more than 100km/h, thus vehicles with trailers (their max speed is 100km/h) can't drive there.

Re: Speeding camera flashed me at A3 motorway

Just rented a car yesterday, I think Switzerland have more radars than speed signs.
Often there is nos signs to tell you the speed, or they are not visible.
I try to respect the speed limit and often drive 10K under, but sometime you realize your are driving faster than others and obviously you didn't see a sign (and the car system didn't see it too).

Or just go by the standards if you're not sure

But I agree: I am often wondering if the speed limit changed and I didn't see the sign. I usually rely on my GPS, for better or worse

The "there was no sign" complaint is an EF perennial; there always is, and five minutes later someone posts a Streetmap view of it.

And then the OP backtracks and says something like "but it was overgrown / fell down / it's too small / they aren't like that in my country" and a torrent of groans and red blobs follow.

Just don't go down that route...

so lucky we have God on board.
What's your point groaning at me?
I am only telling my experience of driving here, and it's not the first time.
If you try to respect the speed limit but can't see the signs, do you think it's right?

I stand by my original point - many people post that there was no sign, or it was not visible, which is what you did.

Every time there is a visible sign, hence the groan.

If there genuinely wasn't a sign you could appeal a fine, which would be an interesting post - that has never happened yet...

did I say I had a fine? do you expect me to drive back with a webcam? I didn't see a sign and the car system didn't. end of the story.
By the way It's not necessary with speed limit going down.

Re: Speeding camera flashed me at A3 motorway

Has anyone noticed that the first 100 limit sign heading into Zürich on the A3 just before the rest stop is no longer there? Does this mean that the limit is now 120 there?

What‘s the limit in the other direction?

There are 2 parts of the Oberland Autobahn (Zurich) where the limit is 120, but there are no signs, except the green start of the Autobahn signs (as in Dantes Dame‘s post above). Both are signed 100 about 800 metered before. In the other directions 120 is shown...

beautiful sign, unfortunately it's not always present. Speed sign are often only on the right and not visible if you are passing a truck.

This is the standard speed limits in Switzerland - if you need to see it, just print yourself a copy and stick it on your dashboard.

There's a simple solution: don't overtake.

Besides, your claim is generally not true. There may be exceptions, that just doesn't refute the rule.

What's the definition of sign?

There's a zone in Aarau city center with lots of pedestrians. There's a round metal thing hanging from a lamp post that says 30 km/h. About 100m down the road, the floor has huge markings telling 20 km/h.

My car and it's fancy GPS and image recognition system don't pick up the 20 km/h limit. So, the car helps. But the meatbag between the steering wheel and the seat remains in charge.

I dont think that a floor marking alone is actually legal in CH. I guess it is a "Begegnungszone", but then it needs a sign like this:https://qimby.net/image/412/beginn-e...szone-tempo-20
