| | Re: Police raid on A1 | Quote: | | | | | They do in Neuchâtel too.
My son’s instructor told him that it was fine to signal left when entering the roundabout if taking the third exit but there was no legal obligation to do so.
He said it had become a recommendation here but not an obligation. | | | | | I like the French way of signalling left until it is time to signal right to exit. The fact that I can see that someone's signal is on means that they are (most likely) aware of what they are doing and will signal their exit.
Seems a shame to fine someone for being proactively safe. |

| | Re: Police raid on A1 | Quote: | | | | | Sure, Germany's A1 doesn't even come close to the Swiss border.
The neighboring state's law enforcement has been given the power to act on this side of the border by mutual agreement. Generally, they shouldn't enter deeper than 20km but there's no predetermined limit if the situation demands it. | | | | | I believe this is part of the Schengen agreement. However, they have no power of arrest or to issue on the spot fines, but must call the Swiss police for assistance.

Here's one of the explicit ones between CH and Germany, see §10. This looks like an updated version, the version I remember included the border Cantons as signatories, probably the Bundesländer as well, because police power lies in the hand of the Cantons. Perhaps domestic laws and regulations have been amended meanwhile, allowing simplification and streamlining of the entire undertanking.
That said, issuing standardised fines means the absence of Gefahr im Verzug (immediate danger of really bad stuff happening) and is unlikely to be allowed by such a treaty.
