Electric Car TCO question

I am looking at buying a Tesla Model 3 Long Range.

I have found it very difficult to calculate what the costs will be to recharge it. charging it at home is easy to see but i need to know what the costs are at the various super markets, tesla superchargers, etc.

I thought that some charging stations at the market would be free but 1 that is by my house is not. not only that, it would cost nearly 50 CHF to charge the car full and that is not even a fast charger.

What is the price per Kw at a Tesla supercharger? what is the general price of the slower chargers that you see around town? Right now the only "cheap" place to charge is at home and other places is not drastically cheaper than if i would just fill up my gas tank.

Tesla‘s Supercharger price is shown on their website. I think it‘s 30 or 35 Rappen a kWh. So a charge from say 20% to 80% (my normal recharge figures) ie. adding 60% to the Model 3 75kWh battery pack about CHF18.-

Tesla have really got charging stations sorted. The rest will be like them in a few years - plug your car in. It knows who you are and how much to charge and off it goes. No cards, clubs etc etc.

If you buy a Tesla and use a recommendation from another owner, you‘ll get 1500kms worth of charge charge in 6 months free of charge.

Non-Tesla chargers are slow and often cost, but places like garden centres and Aldi offer free charging. Again this will be slow A/C charging at 11kWh (adds about 65kms in an hour) or less.

I charge from my solar panels. That too is slow, but cheap!

thank you for the information. I live in Glarus and will rarely use a Tesla supercharger so my charging will be either the small local charging ports and my home.

I was looking at some local charging points and in my mind it is still expensive. Of course i would not be charging it from 0-100 at these places but in the long run I thought the price would be closer to the price that i would be paying at home. not nearly 3x as much.

Glanerland looks like and EV changing desert!

At home from a domestic socket with adaptor Tesla supplies, depending on your usage, you should be able to charge overnight for 8 hours and add about 50kWh. In Canton Zurich this costs 14rp kWh off peak (full prices isn‘t much more)...

I‘m sorry these figures are rubbish!

Mains electricity will add about 11kms per hour so 88kms for 8 hours.

A Tesla Wall Connector using 3 phase electricity (common in Switzerland) will add 66kms per hour.

Both cost the same per kWh...
