....Memo to self: check DOT when buying tyres. Solution: keep summer tyres on this winter (global warming, hello!), practice burn outs spring 2022 and then refit the old winter tyres
eeeehm, NOPE. While I found only recommendations re age of tires, insurances will definitely immediately declare your car unfit for the road in case of accidents in winter on summer tires.

Winter tires in summer are accepted. (Do at all times keep in mind that your brake path is longer. But we will all be happy if you (no longer?) kiss our asses on the highway.)

perhaps not really obvious (this is EF, afterall) - my "solution" shouldn't be taken seriously

Re: Replace 10 YO winter tyres?

If you drive so little, maybe consider all-season tires.

I also thought about those out loud at my garage. I was actually told they're not that good, sticking to winter-tires all year would be better.

TCS on the other hand states on their website, all-season tires have improved. What ever that means.

I drive AllSeasons for like 6-years now. Didn't notice any difference between summer/winter and allseasons.

Looking at stats - Allseasons address exactly the weather/temperature that accidents happen the most (>-2C<7C).
However it could be exactly because Summer/Winder address the conditions in other temperatures better.

after all it's the driver and not the tiers that are reasons for accidents.
