| | Speeding in a 30kph zone - Any experiences?
Hi guys!
Last saturday while it was raining a lot i got lost in St. Gallen and i got flashed in a 30 zone at the St. Gallen hospital street... Now, a few things about the incident: - This is my first - and only - fine in 4 years of being in Switzerland
- I was driving around 40 - Car speedometer always shows less + the 5+/- tolerance from the speed camera
- The camera took the first flash - from the front - and then the second from the back like 3 seconds after. Needless to say that after the first flash i reduced the speed to grandma walking speed, maybe thats why...
What to expect? My best guess is top a 250 chf (i hope). Any similar experiences? I have been a bit stressed out the last few days because of this...
As for what i have read the St. Gallen canton takes between 3 or 4 weeks to send the letter, any way to know it sooner?
Thanks in advance! |

The way I understand it you may not receive a fine at all.
It looks like there were two measurements, if they differ by more than 10km/h they can't be used.
Otherwise it's 120.- for 5-10km/h too fast, 250.- for 11-15km/h, nothing earthshattering.

You can check fines here.
The tolerance of the radar could've been 3 km/h if it was a laser one.
Based on what you described it will be 120-250 one, but it's unlikely to get into trouble (that starts at the actual speed of 49 in this case)

I assumed it was taking 2 photos to actually have a proof of the movement

they wanted to make sure they have good view on your license plates - that's all
Don't worry too much - it would be 50kmh that you'd have to look for a velo - so far you just have to forgo lunch for two @ city and pay the bill

Speeding in a 30 zone is great. You need to do it really fast and ideally stoned, so it feels like a computer game. The more flashes you see, the better.

Never was flashed in the 30 zone, but there was a legend, that one man ran a camera in a 20 zone and got away without a fine. https://www.blick.ch/schweiz/zuerich...d15285854.html | This user would like to thank evop for this useful post: | |
