Document proving you did the Swiss driving test

Hi,

I am currently in the UK trying to exchange my Swiss drivers license for a UK one and they are asking me to prove that I did a test to get the Swiss drivers licence ( which I did because I had Trinidad and Tobago licence). Does anyone know if you can get a copy of the drivers test or a document stating you did a test ?

Call or email your cantonal driving licence people and ask them to provide you/DVLA with something.

Thanks, I tried but I didnít get anything. Apparently there is no official document which states I did a test drive .

Did you not get some paperwork from the test that you had to give to the cantonal transport office to prove you'd done it here? That should be on file in their offices.

Question is if the Swiss Kontrollfahrt has the same status as a driving test, as it is only a practical test.

If it does, you could also refer to the relevant law that requires you to do the test.

A test drive is not a test.

When out driving it relatively easy to tell which drivers passed the Swiss test.

Re: Document proving you did the Swiss driving test

I'm always amazed British licences are allowed to be changed for Swiss ones without a driving or theory test. Maybe that will change after Brexit. We have no concept of rechts vor links etc.

Anyway, my Swiss licence has my UK licence number on the back along with some other numbers and "GB". The dates of validity for the categories are carried over from the UK one. I suppose if your licence was really a pure Swiss one then there would be no such extra information on it and the category dates would be the same as the licence issue date on the front. If not a pure Swiss one then in the UK the rules might follow according to your the origin of your original licence. I have no idea if once you have a Swiss licence it should or shouldn't be treated anywhere else as a 'pure' Swiss licence.
Good luck!

Not intending to derail here, just want to comment on this point - I'm shortly going to be exchanging my UK license for a Swiss one, and this comment was very helpful. There's an intersection near my house that I walk past every morning with confusing (to me) markings, and I've often wondered what the rules were - now I know! Thanks Landers
