SBB app question - buying two tickets at different prices

I will go back to the office tomorrow for the first time in ages. I will go by train in the morning, taking my bike with me, and will cycle back after work.

I bought a ticket for myself using the SBB app with my Swiss Pass on my phone. I paid full price, as I currently have no reduction. Now I also want to buy a half price ticket for the bike, but the app only offers either another full-price (corresponding to my Swiss Pass), or a bike Tageskarte for 14 CHF. A half-price ticket for my bike would cost 3.60 CHF.

In the end I just bought another full-price ticket for the bike (7.20 CHF), it's only an extra 3 CHF after all. But has anyone worked out how to buy a full price ticket + a half price bike ticket on the same Swiss Pass?

Following is not an advise and I can't be certain, that it is a correct solution, it just works for me:

Add another traveler to your account, call it something like "Velo Fahrradli", indicate it to have a Half-fare travelcard and simply buy a ticket for it every time you need one. I got controlled several times and got nothing but giggles and words of approval from the SBB employees.

Amazing! You didn’t need to link a 1/2 fare card to the “person” to buy the ticket?

I did think about that option, but wasn't sure if it would be accepted :-)

I don't get how now it's only cost you 3 CHF more instead of 3.60
I said 3 CHF more but in reality it's 3.60 more... I bought a full-price ticket for the bike at 7.20 instead of 3.60. I was being approximate.

can't you take the front wheel off and it then isn't a bike, or put plastic over it for the same effect?
Not worth the effort for a 10-minute journey and a few francs.

I just made a "traveller" for my dog, I put in his real birth date and it said he should travel for free - guess I'll have to prematurely age him!!

I've done the same thing by creating a new user in my SBB account called "Velo Velo" who has a half price card. I have been purchasing bike tickets this way for years and have never encountered any problems from ticket controllers.

No "dog years" option?

Re: SBB app question - buying two tickets at different prices

is there a way to purchase a bike ticket via SBB app? other than day ticket and bike reservation, I couldn't find how to buy a single journey ticket for a bicycle. even the FAQs mention only day tickets

Approximate would be CHF 4, not CHF3.

I took evop's advice and adding another user on my card was a walk in the park. Just add a few years to your bike and you're good as gold.

Here is the explanation from the SBB website. As others said, for purchasing a half-price ticket create a fake traveller with a half-price card, their age should be above 6 years old. Mine is named Velo Velo so it's clear the ticket purchased is for a bicycle.

Quote:
If you take your bicycle with you, for most trains, buses and boats you will need one of the tickets listed here for your bike.

Bicycles which do not fit in a normal bicycle rack or which are longer than 2 meters are classed as special cycles. For these you need 2 tickets (or an annual bike pass).

Reduced Point-to-Point Ticket.

For short journeys, you can buy a half-price 2nd class Point-to-Point ticket for your bike.

Day Pass Bike.

For longer journeys, you can buy a Day Pass Bike for CHF 14. This is also available as a Multiple Day Bike Pass for 6 days of your choosing for CHF 84.

Re: SBB app question - buying two tickets at different prices

There is no Q&A for bikes, but for the dogs FAQ has the following here: https://www.sbb.ch/en/timetable/mobi...obile/faq.html

Quote:
How can I buy a ticket for my dog with SBB Mobile?
You can buy a ticket for dogs at half the price in second class. The ticket must bear the name of the person travelling (do not enter the dog’s name).
