Possible Change To German Border Crossing From Sunday 1.Aug

One to keep an eye on if you have plans to drive over to Germany from this weekend...

Quote:
Germany wants to make entry more difficult : Those who want to enter the country will soon need a negative test result, a vaccination certificate or proof of recovery. According to a statement by Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder , this rule should come into force on Sunday.

Will this be as strictly enforced as during the lockdown last year when *nobody* was allowed to enter Germany and the border posts remained unmanned

so that means our swiss vaccination certificates are sufficient? (ie. no need for a pcr test?) we are driving over after next week

Swiss and EU certificates are recognized by each other.

I've said this before.

The PCR test as issued in Switzerland is an unprotected and editable pdf file.

I'm just saying. But not saying.

If I understood this correctly this does not apply if you are driving through the country and/or stay in the country for less than 24 hours.

In fact the online form you need to fill in requires a German address and you can't send it off if you haven't filled that part in. And you can't select any country other than Germany.

So logically, if you're not staying at a German address you can't submit the form.

They probably check you on your way out now, so they can charge fines. They gotta make some money before Aldi South, the parcel-holding-offices etc. go bankrupt.

Sure. And you come back with your shopping and the same Customs person is still there.

They also do checks after the border.

If you are vaccinated there is no problem crossing the border

You tell them you were planning to drive to Denmark but you changed your mind.
