| | Can I use SBB annual bike pass on Zurich tram?
Just wondering really. It seems to say I can on the website. It says
The annual bike pass is valid for unlimited transportation (self-service loading of bicycles) on the networks of most public transport companies.
But I thoguht I would kind of confirm it first. Coz I cant find specific mention anywhere including EFs 'biking in switz' pinned stickie
THANKS

Yes and no. | Quote: | | | | The annual bike pass is valid for unlimited transportation (self-service loading of bicycles) on the networks of most public transport companies. | | | | | https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-an...bike-pass.html
I would check the website of the regional company, like ZVV in Zürich.

adding up to that question -- is bike transport ' free ' in SBB trains on specific conditions? I was ear-dropping the other day the conversation of two fellow mountain-bikers that were saying that if you buy an SBB ticket for >40 CHF, or you have a day pass, you can travel with your bike without having to pay the additional bike ticket. I browsed on the SBB site, but i couldn't find anything on that respect.
Any idea?

Any idea? | | | | | This isn't true.
However, if you take the front wheel off and put your bike in a bag, it counts as luggage, and is free.

I wonder if a bike in CTC transparent bag would still count as luggage on SBB
It's really easy to pack a light bike into such bag and the bag itself is ultra compact https://www.cyclinguk.org/cyclists-l...port/bikes-air |

It's really easy to pack a light bike into such bag and the bag itself is ultra compact | | | | | From SBB, emphasis mine: | Quote: | | | | The following types of bicycle count as hand luggage and do not require a ticket:
Folding bicycles, when folded up.
Bike trailers being used to transport children.
Bicycles of children younger than 6.
Shopping carts (including those with a bicycle connection).
Bicycles packed in a transport bag with their front wheels detached.
For bicycles which have had their front wheels detached, use a special transport bag such as the TranZBag, which is available in the SBB Shop or from specialist bike or outdoor shops. Every cover is acceptable regardless of its manufacturer.
Here’s how it works.
During your train journey, stow your packed bike with its front wheel removed under your seat, above your seat, or in the boarding area.
Please make sure your bicycle carry case is secure and cannot tip over, is not in the way of other passengers, is not blocking any sliding doors and does not constitute a hazard.
Areas marked with bike symbols are reserved for bicycles that are subject to a fee and must not be occupied by bicycles in carry cases.
If you wish to put your carry case on a seat, you must purchase an additional half-fare ticket.
As with any item of hand luggage, you alone are responsible for your bike. | | | | | | This user would like to thank ThisIsFine for this useful post: | |
