Proper all-seasons have the three mountain peak and snowflake symbol which means that they are in the eye of the law snow tires.
Yes, those are the ones I use, as Italy also has this law from mid November to mid March.

That's quite the point. Tom's Sottoceneri conditions, where fresh snow hardly every survives more than one day even in the very rare cases where it manages to get white in the first place, doesn't really compare to areas with snow all winter long.
Indeed.

A lot of people I know simple run winters year round, as it doesn't get really hot for more than a few days.

Basically, we have:

Ford Maverick 4x4, all year tires.
Fiat Panda 4x4, winter tires all year.
Boxster, summer tires all year.
Ford Fiesta, two sets, but ran winter tires all last year as I wanted to finish them.

That has been disproved many times here on EF. Do a search.
Leaving a mountain is much more dangerous than arriving. if EF has proved anything it's that there'll be at least one winter tyre debate per year usually filled with gumpf.
