Press the switch a few times, does it work correct and trigger the alarm (or silence it if NC).
Five minutes (most of those probably try to find the switch) and all is revealed.
Are people totally incapable of simple tasks nowadays? | | | | | What switch? ;-)

The Queen and Prince Philip drove them regularly. They have a certain catchet.

Was going to comment that wiggling the switch doesn't always do the trick. I was also going to comment that, on my car, the bonnet switch is a frequent failure point that leads to these false alarms, and apart from replacing the switch, there isn't much you can do.
Guess who also drives a Land Rover? |

I sprayed some wd40 into both switches, opened and closed the bonnet about 5-6 times, and just closed the car --> up until now no alarms --> but I've parked it closer to my home, so at least it's in range for the remote.
Quick, non related question : which site do you buy your car parts ? or just go to the mechanic and he/she handles all that ?

I usually just let my mechanic handle it. In this case, the switch is a pretty cheap part and a simple replacement -- better to get the part fixed and not worry about it again rather than band-aid repairs with WD-40. It's a frequent failure part on the RR/LR.
