Point to point SBB ticket

Hi Folks
I was planning to travel from Aargau to Zurich but according to the SBB map the train passes many zones and I have to pay the return as well but the point is that Im paying a whole Day pass for these intera zones where I never stop when Im on the train. So isnt there any better solution to purchase a ticket that brings me to zurich with return ?

In other words you only want to pay to get on the train and get off the train but not the actual journey itself?

You could invent teleportation I guess, otherwise you will have to pay to travel through the zones the train travels through….

Make a day of it. Stop once in every zone, drop in somewhere for a coffee, then use the toilet on the train after all the coffee then you can say that you properly got your money's worth.

Re: Point to point SBB ticket

What is the exact journey and how much does your chosen ticket cost ?

Although you are not using all the zones, the ticket price you pay should be reasonable (Km/CHF) for the distance between the start and destination. That's how the zones are planned.

The only people for whom it is really wrong are those who would want to spend the full 3 hours (or whatever the time limit is) making journeys all over the zone system and, therefore, get a bargain in Km/CHF terms.

But don’t use the toilets in the stations! They cost more than a croissant!

The SBB uses three types of zones: bright, normal and twilight, with bright zones being most expensive. Best is to go to a ticket office and ask to do the twilight zone only. Not many people know about it, but it's much cheaper.

You're missing the point. You have to pay to get to and from the destination, regardless of whether you stop in between and for how long.

If you do opt for a supersaver ticket, note: It is only good on the specific train at the specific time you've booked. So don't change your mind and take a different one or you'll have to pay again.

Re: Point to point SBB ticket

I often use a supersaver into town as it’s very unlikely I wouldn’t use that train. For he return i just buy a regular ticket for the flexibility.
