Its got to do with what will people will do to save 5 francs I dont understand. Me I would rather pay 5 bucks than to run around spending 100 francs in a shop full of (how can I explain without sounding snobish) smelly people. For me quality of life does cost a little extra hence Switzeland charging 40 francs to use motorways (that dont shake your car to bits as per the UK at the moment) for a whole year and still people want to do it on the cheap (maybe they did the wrong deal when the took employment in CH). Me I blow more than that having a quick drink after work.

Well for those who do want to save 5 francs then I see that Denner are running the same offer again staring on Monday 1st Dec.
So if you get your booze there anyway, why not get a vignette at the same time.

What is with your attitude? If the OP wants to save money, that is their business. Live your life squandering away your hard earned money. As for what "deal" people are on when they took employment here - what does that have to do with wanting to save money?

I shop in Denner 3x a week. Milk is cheaper and it is hell of a lot more convenient (and faster) for me than Migros/Coop. Sorry if I smell

Amen to that. I have encountered more smelly albeit well-dressed people on the trams of Zurich than at Denner or Aldi.

The sticker you need to purchase to allow you usage of the autobahn in Switzerland!

As far as I remember neither DaveA nor Lob were xenophobic bigots.

Guess Eastern Europeans are the only ones who are struggling financially. And I know for a fact that there are many native Swiss who smell. And even some expats. Imagine that.

Not all of us came here for cushy high paid jobs. Not all of us came here - some are born here. And not all of us want to spend extra money if we don't have to - like those who find themselves unexpectedly unemployed.

Really, if you think that was some humor you were spouting, then go...

I have shopped in Denner on many occasions and sorry to disappoint you but my shopping experience was never anything like you have described. Then again I also accept the fact that a tradesperson who might be stopping on his way home to get some groceries as his wife is at home with a new baby might not have had time to shower on his way home from work. Some of us of just more tolerant than others. It has nothing to do with being a snob.

What's wrong with saving 5 francs if I am shopping at Denner anyways?

But not to be confused with the vignette for your bicycle..

(bicycles aren't appreciated on the Autobahn)

Re: Car Vignette for 2009

Speaking of Vignettes, some cars I've seen have 4 years stickers (latest + expired) on their windscreens. Some bicycles have stickers going back to the 90's.

Strictly forbidden, you can be written up for having more than the current years vignette on your car.

Re: Car Vignette for 2009

Denner is advertising that the Vignette is available as of today.

CHF 35 vs 40 with the purchase of CHF 100 of goods. While stocks last.

Exceptions on the CHF 100:

Liquor, tobacco products, garbage bags that are taxed, vignettes themselves, and gift certificates.

They don't seem to enforce it, though. Where our car is parked there are dozens of others with stickers on for the past 6 or 7 years.

With the exception of 2005's rubbish foil sticker, the rest are a bugger to remove unless you have a bottle of alcohol and a razor blade to hand (or the handy pack you can buy in the Post Office)..

The trick I use is to heat the Vignette up with a hair dryer. Then using a plastic scraper (you should be able to find something in the kitchen) you can just peel it off (normally with minimal breakup of the Vignette). Then I use a little bit of lighter fluid to get the rest of the gunk off. Final clean of the window (something I need to anyhow) and we are ready for the new Vignette.
