Parking Sticker for blue zones Basel??

Ok im just about to buy a car and i live slap bang in the middle of the city (steinenvorstad). I do not plan on renting a carspace, but i was wondering can you get some kind of sticker that goes on your car to say you live in the area so you can park in blue zones as tho they were white zones (or am is that just wishful thinking). I am used to parking hell from Sydney, but i always got a resident sticker saying I could park longterm in any park that was within a few streets of my address.

cheers

Re: Parking Sticker for blue zones Basel??

For the bluezone you can get a parking permit for free from your local garage, but you can only park for 1 hour.

Tip don`t park in the same white zone area, we have to vehicals mine is parked in the garage, and my husbands is outside on a white zone, and he got a letter from the police telling him he had to pay 60frcs a month to use the white zone all the time, so my husband keeps parking in different white zones

Re: Parking Sticker for blue zones Basel??

We live so far out of the town there aren't even markings on our road, no blue, no white... But now we have to pay the council for parking habitually on the same street, a residential street, a dead end to boot, at our own front door.

Re: Parking Sticker for blue zones Basel??

You're getting wrong information here. Yes of course you can get a permit. The permit allows you to park in blue zones that are within your post code area.

Once you have your car, go to the police station on Clarastrasse. It's called an "Anwohnerparkkarte" (~residence parking card). Cost: CHF 120 a year. http://www.polizei.bs.ch/bewilligung...rparkkarte.htm

When I lived in Basel, I actually still had my UK car and could even get a permit (!). I was living in Klein-Basel and my permit was valid for 4057 parking area. Next time you're out, lookout for the parking signs near the blue zones. Underneath the blue "P" symbol it'll say something like "mit parkingbewilligung 4057" (i.e. with parking permits 4057). I now live in Zurich (with a Swiss registered car) and it works the same here. Just renewed my parking permit for 2009 at a cost of CHF 240 for one year! Basel is cheaper!

I do not like driving around Basel and attempting to find free parking spaces.

It says on the back of the disc. I can't remember the details, but I believe it is 1.5 hours from 08:00 to around midday (can't remember exactly) and then from early afternoon until 18:00 (Monday-Saturday). Sunday and weekday/Saturday evenings, you can park without the disc even if you're in a blue zone.

By the way, I hear from 2009 they'll be no more white zones in Basel-Stadt. I read sometime ago that long-term visitors (i.e. more than a day) will be able to buy temporary passes from the Stadt, but maybe this has/will be changed.

Even if you have a permit it can be difficult--it once took me 45 minutes to find a free blue (or white) spot in Klein Basel around the Klybeckstrasse. It just depends on the area. Where I live now, most people have fixed parking places/garages so finding spaces within the blue zones are not so problematic.... and I live in Kreis 4!

The 1.5 hours is correct, but you can only have this amount of time if you say park at 15.05 then you are allowed to put the black pointer to the half way mark allowing you to have an extra 30 minutes (or 25 if we want to be perfect), other than that it is 1 hour only. You are correct about the weekends and evenings

Re: Parking Sticker for blue zones Basel??

I live in Basel near downtown and we have a card which we put on lower right hand side of wind screen, valid for 1 year, cost around 120 chf and we can park unlimited on parking space in front of our apartment.

Although its a busy area but we always manage to find a place to park in the same street or next.

Excellent. On a side note, I noticed that both Italy and Germany have such blue disc thing. However I wouldn't know what the rules are there.

Haha.

Well I do not live in Basel, but worked there for a month in June/July, and had to park my car in Riehen each day and get the tram in! Was much easier that way, though, and I would highly recommend it! Hundreds of free parking spaces there, available for usage all day long!

Occasionally when I just needed to be in Basel for an hour, say for shopping purposes or whatever, I would park my car in Wettsteinplatz outside my mate's block of flats. I'm still not sure if I was legally parking it there or not..

Is it possible to park in the post-code designated Blue Zones ("mit parkingbewilligung XXXX") just using the blue disc?

Just looking to stay short-term, but not sure if these zones are only for people with permits or whether the blue-disc is still valid for the short stays (with the permits allowing you to park all day)?

Also, is it for 1, 1.5 or 2 hours you can park using the disc - this post is a bit old, and I've heard 2 hours being bandied about?

Thanks!

Re: Parking Sticker for blue zones Basel??

a rather garbled translation (google translate) from the below site answers the question, i think. looks like it's ok to park in any blue zone with a blue disc.

http://www.polizei.bs.ch/verkehr/parkieren.htm

Blue Zone
Here is the place hour plus the opened half an hour to park. With the residents' parking card in the blue zone can be parked indefinitely long time.

White zone with additional signs
In these zones, the parking spaces on the ground are marked white. In addition, a sign points to the allowed parking time out.

Attention
If white car parks so it is important not only to the color of the marking on the ground, but make sure that not a sign pointing to a possible limited parking time. So, looking up. The Residents' parking permit may be parked in the white area is not unlimited with additional signs in the rule.

This differentiated practice with the white zone is valid throughout Switzerland. The tight parking space in urban areas and the simultaneously increasing use of car needs Travellers have meant that were created in the white zone free parking in areas where a need exists for a short stay.

On the handling of the parking disc, nothing changes. Example: If you arrive at 9.10, set the clock arrival time to the next line.. In this case, to 9.30 clock. Since the parking period as indicated on 30 minutes is limited, you can leave your car until 10.00 clock. The whole parking time is thus 50 minutes.
