| | 3-wheeler - must be a mid-life crisis
So, I have never ridden a motobike ... well, a few trail bikes, but that's all. And, I would like to try motorcycling, and thought that a 3-wheeler might be worth thinking about. Yeah, I know 3 wheels is not a 2 wheels!
Anybody know anything about 3-wheelers, and whether they are available in Switzerland, or nearby?
If is is good enough for Billy Connelly, well it may be good enough for me. But, I am not going to grow a beard and dye it purple ... honest, I saw him driving his 3-wheeler in Aberdeen with said beard.

In India, where I come from this is a 3-wheeler - you're looking for one of these? |

Do you mean a "trike" (symmetrical 3-wheeler) or a motorcycle with side car?
Both are generally custom-made. I believe, once compliant, both can be registered here.
Helmets are compulsory, regardless of your bike having 2, 3 or 4 wheels (yes, you need a skid-lid for quads).

I mean a "trike" as in a symmetrical 3-wheeler ... probably more chopper-like than the photos you kindly supplied.
I was wondering if the guy with the 3-wheeler and cow ran the bulls in Pamplona, and got lucky? | Quote: | | | | | Do you mean a "trike" (symmetrical 3-wheeler) or a motorcycle with side car?

Although I'm sure I saw one of the Indian 3 wheelers on sale in Globus few months ago at a India week |

I did see one the other day in Zurich which looked quite cool... I guess they are allowed and you simply need a motorcycle license?
Try this place for more information (unfortunately in German)... http://www.trike.ch/
Personally I would go for one like below... I have had too many bad experiences in the Indian Bajaj... Amazing what they can do with 8BHP over there!! |

I used to have a Honda 250 all-terrain 3-wheeler back in New Zealand. They are amazingly dangerous things, and are very easy to roll. I managed to roll mine on flat ground... The manufacturers have since stopped selling three wheelers and focus on four wheel ATVs instead.
Riding them is simple - you sort-of throw your centre of gravity around in a similar way to skiing.

As a motorcyclist and driver, I'd say "Get a two wheeler or an MX5!"
Or any small convertable for that matter, no helmets, a roof when it rains and luggage space.
Though the upside of the three wheeler would be a helmet so no one recognises you as a mid-life-crisee, just avoid pony tails |

Piaggio make a 3 wheeler. Not in the same "Pimp My Ride" class as a chopper Ducati, so it may not help with your MLC... http://www.ofrag.ch/003sco_01010300_de.htm |

I guess the ride would be not too bumpy - give the lack of pot holes |
