Moving back to UK...... transport?????

So I'm moving back to the UK (Manchester) at the beginning of June as I have decided to go to uni.

Need some advice on how to transport all our stuff back there. We will have 2 kayaks, 2 bikes, skis, clothes and various other possesions.

Does anyone know of a company where you can hire a van in Switzerland and drive it one way to the uk? Or of a reasonable moving company? Or is anyone moving in the opposite direction around the same time and wanting to share a van?

My best idea so far is to fly to london then hire a van there and drive it back to Swizzyland load up and drive back to UK..... but seems like a lot of hassle!

It would be fantastic if you found a company that would allow you to drive just the one leg. When we moved here we flew over, collected a van from a local firm and then drove to England and back. It worked out well.

I think to be honest you'll probably have to rent a van. In terms of route, you may want to consider taking the Rotterdam/Hull route with PO Ferries. £100 each way, but might be easier than driving from Dover up north after the long(ish) drive through France.

Europcar seems to be okay for prices... and you get a discount if you have a GA card.

Re: Moving back to UK...... transport?????

I might have a van going back empty in May. Not sure it'll take the kayaks though. PM me dimensions. Otherwise AudioDruid does regular trips in his bigger van, either way it'll be much cheaper than flying, hiring and driving both ways

The longest kayak is about 3.30m, the other around 2m.

I'm also looking to move some belongings back to uk (North Wales), ideally by end of April at latest although could perhaps consider early May.
Would be interested in sharing van/costs with anyone heading in that direction
