Importing Used Car Personal Effects Into Switzerland

I'm non-resident in CH but own property there. I'm sending my Jag 3.0 from Bahrain (2006 model) which I've owned for more than 6 months, to CH in a container to clear and for my use when I'm on holiday. Is it better to import the car, or take swiss customs plates? Also the car is EU spec but has the Jaguar (metal animal) logo on the bonnet. Will this have to be removed on import? Thanks

Oh I'm not sure. I heard it used to be an issue that the metal Jaguar had to be removed for fear of adding to the injuries it would cause on a pedestrian if there was an accident but don't know if this is still in effect. Would be best to contact the local department of transportation in your area.

At first glance it sounds like the car front regulations are in line with EU law: http://www.admin.ch/ch/d/sr/741_41/a104a.html

Switzerland has introduced a law against rigid hood ornaments in 1956 and when Mercedes was able to design a bendable star, surely Jaguar succeeded at this, too?

It is possible to get a "safe" Jaguar hood ornament. Mine hasn't got one, but I've seen them for sale at www.arden.de
