| | Re: Mobility Scheme
I was just about to sign up for this scheme when I noticed that the cars are only insured for third party.
What happens if I prang the car? Am I liable for the full cost?

(or maybe I need one)

Question about licenses: we both have (valid) US licenses. We are intending to switch over to Swiss licenses but haven't had a chance yet.. Those of you who are members of mobility, have you all got Swiss licenses?
Thanks

e. | | | | | Your license has to be valid for Switzerland. I used my UK one and they let me join, but sent me an extra letter stating that I must submit a copy of my new swiss license once I get it converted.

| | Mobility cars already have vingette?
Perhaps a stupid question,
I'm renting a mobility car on the weekend and my trip will be much shorter if I can take the highway, but are you allowed on the highway in a Mobility car (ie, do they already have proper vignette's purchased)? I checked the FAQ on the site, and I feel like the answer must be yes, but I'd hate to get a ticket. TIA for an answer!

| | Mobility car sharing
As it is a bit impossible to find a parking place were i live and winter is approaching fast (yes i know is only the middle of summer but anw), i wanted to explore this option of car sharing as well.
Their webpage seems ok and its in English (a huge plus!) but has someone used them? Is it as easy as they make it to be? As i need a car only a couple of days per week it seems like a nice option since im a long way off in getting that Bugatti
Thanks |

OK - very quick question - any issues in taking the car over the border to Frieburg/Mulhouse??
This seems like to be a very good scheme, and I am now having second thoughts in bringing my UK registered car over when we move.
many thanks

All of the information on taking the car abroad is found here (scroll down to 9. Overseas).

| | Re: Mobility Scheme | Quote: | | | | | Compare the prices for the types of trip you are planning. If you want a car for multiple days, then I think the traditional car renters are better priced.
I mainly use Mobility for the once-a-month big food shop at the nearby Co-op.
Mobility also has a cost-per-kilometer (it recently went up), so factor that into your calculations. Mobility may not be economical for long journeys, but I haven't checked the numbers. | | | | | When I joined I was told by the guy who showed us round the Mobility computer that over 4 days or about 400 Km it's cheaper to get a rental car. Mobility also have a CDP (Discount plan) with Hertz and Avis so if you do rent you can get a few bob off.

| | Car Rental for Grocery Shopping
Hi,
I'm pretty new to the town of Bern, and I've read from other threads that mobility.ch offer good rates should I want to rent a car.
Does anyone have any experience renting from them? I'll be in Bern for 4 months so I guess I can take up the 4 month package. I will only need to rent the car once or twice a month, as I intend to purchase groceries in bulk cross border, probably to France.
Btw, anyone has any recommendations for cheap/factory-outlet style grocery stores? I don't mind buying my daily needs in bulk and deep freezing the,
Thanks!
Jack

| | Car share/short term car hire
Hello,
Does anyone know about a car share scheme in Switzerland, where you pay a certain amount for a year and then can use one of the cars in the scheme? Someone told me about this in passing and I've totally forgotten all the details!
Otherwise does anyone know what a good option for car hire would be for a week or 3 or 8 (weeks)?
Thanks!!
