Two quick SBB ticket questions

1. With a normal one-way ticket, can I disembark at an intermediate stop and resume travel later in the same day? In other words, can I buy a Geneva-to-Lausanne ticket and shop at IKEA Aubonne on the way?

2. When buying a multiple journey ticket, is there a validation procedure for each trip? Do I use the orange machine?

Thanks!

Re: Two quick SBB ticket questions

1. Yes, as the ticket is valid all day.
2. Yes, stick it in the orange machine. If you have one way tickets its valid 2hrs, if return, then its 24hrs.

At least that is how it worked a couple of years ago. I now have a GA so am completely clueless as to current rules. But doubt it changed much.

Look at the ticket: For one way tickets, there's usually a time limit on them (eg. Valid until 22.7.09, 18:30).

Within cities, the limit is two hours - not sure about Interregio services.

Re: Two quick SBB ticket questions

One more question. For the multiple-trip tickets, I can travel between the two designated points in either direction, yes? What about regular point-to-point tickets? Can I run them in reverse?

Useful, but they didn't specifically address either question.

Re: Two quick SBB ticket questions

I have this information from a Swiss conductor's blog which by the way isn't the worst way to practice your German : It is allowed to interrupt a one way trip but you have to inform the first conductor before he devaluates your ticket. In the comments he stated that passengers not following this rule probably are a very rare occurence, but if you don't, by the book the conductor has to sell you another ticket for the second part of your trip.
