Motorcycle Test next Monday! and I am terrified about it!

Hi all,

I am gonna take my motorcycle road test next Monday. I took the road test for converting my driver licence 2 years ago iN Zurich. Although, quite stressfull I managed to swing it smoothly. But this time I am absolutely terrified about my motorcycle road test.

Everybody has been telling me about the intolerence to mistakes from the test experts. I couldnt believe that my friend had failed the test just because for 2 seconds he held is 2 right hand fingers on the break lever during cruise. This is ridiculous!

Having only about 6 days to my road test, I'd very much appreciate any tips, advises or any other info from those of you who has taken the test already.

Thanks a trillion!
Baris

Test experts in Switzerland seem to be rather tough but I hope it'll go well for you !!!

Re: Motorcycle Test next Monday! and I am terrified about it!

Hi there,

I did my test here a couple of years ago and it was a comedy of errors - due mostly to nerves, it is the most stressful thing I have ever done (I made my own stress, it wasn't a particularly stressful experience!) - was VERY surprised to pass and thought they had been quite lenient. I am not sure at all if this is true but as a lady rider in 30's on a touring bike, I got the impression that I was given an easier time than the young dudes on Ducati monsters - may not be true but perhaps try to be a bit humble rather than cocky - not that you are!

Anyway best of luck, hope it all goes well.

Gruss
Hetfield

(Thinking of buying a Ducati monster )

Very important is to hire an instructor and practice with him a couple of sessions. No matter how good you are, Swiss rules are very unique. I know people who have had motor bikes for more than 20 years, good knowledge, have had licenses in other countries but failed the Swiss test a few times. There are countless details which you can only learn from a professional instructor.

The instructors are very strict. I would recommend taking the test soon after your class ends so that you remember all of the subtle details of the road that they like to fail you on.

I wish you all the best M8.

I must have had major luck as when I moved to Switzerland from SA, I had to take a practical test in a car to have my SA licence valid for CH. The car test was not so bad at all. When I received my new Swiss licence from theStrassenverkehrsamt they had added my motorbike licence .
I did my test in Luzern.

I don't think we need to wish Barish luck with the motorcycle test any more as his original post was in 2009 . Also I see he was seeking to sell his motorcycle in January this year.

Angela, I live in Baselland too and scraped through the motorcycle test at Munchenstein in 2010. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about that ....

Hi, Grifter,
I'm taking the road test in Munchenstein next week, and am pretty nervous. I'm going to book a lesson with an instructor (do you have one to recommend? Didn't like the guy who did my 12-hour course), but would love any input you can give...
Nate
