| | Van transport to UK - space available
I am driving my van back to England again on Friday (14th August 2009), up to Lancashire, and it will be pretty much empty. If you want me to take anything (legal) for you, you are welcome to bring it to me in Berne. Or I could pick it up if not too far. I would ask for a contribution towards fuel if I need to go out of my way, or if you have lot of stuff.

Hi,
We're moving from Zurich to Hampshire at the end of August so it would be fantastic if we could take up some space in your van. Do you still have space? We probably have a big car's worth of things to bring back. Would that be possible? If so can you send me a PM
We could probably get things to Berne but easier for us to pay a bit more if you could come via Zurich.
Thanks,
Gair

Jeremy.

Hi, I will be driving my empty Suv to the UK to pick up some items which have been in storage. I will pass via Calais, Kent and Newcastle area's by the shortest routes. If anyone wishes to put petrol in my tank I am willing transport legal items back at 200chf per 500km. From Neuchatel. Offers between now and jan 5th 2010 before I leave only. Thanks

Anyone looking for this kind of thing contact http://www.englishforum.ch/members/2...rapefruit.html or http://www.englishforum.ch/members/12241-spacey.html rather than Dick Turpin here, as they go back to Blighty quite regularily.

For a full Suv of stuff it is reasonable. considering it recently cost a friend 1200chf to move a van of items 10km there are indeed many other options! Perhaps even some people who do it out of the kindness of their little hearts. I am not claiming to be a bargain basement. So Fewer snide comments would not go amiss. People needing quick convenient solution with no paperwork, admin or delay this is an option, not the only one by a long shot. For your information.. 2000km = 500chf of fuel in my car at Swiss prices (UK prices are around +10%) plus ferry/train crossing = approximately 180chf depending on ticket. The residual can be put down to time spent humping boxes Waiting and detouring, where is the highway robbery? Do we have to start writing disclaimers stating there are better obeware available? Beware Neo, the administration has you! Perhaps mr grapefruit and Spacey are able to help me out if they are empty on their return journey negating the need for me to drive for as many hours or as you so kindly implied "rob" people at gun point. Dick.

Think his Maths is fine. He said he'd charge 200chf for 500km.
That equals 800chf for 2000km.
The fuel for the 2000km would cost 500chf, plus the crossing ticket 180chf, and the rest (a minimal 120chf) for time/labour = 800CHF. (Or 200chf/500km)
Why do people have to continually come on and rip into someone who makes a genuine offer of a service. If you don't like it, or think you can get better somewhere else, ignore it and save yourself some time and some face! (That was not a dig at the "SO IS YOUR MATH" comment, but the original broadside Dick Turpin comment.) The rude comments are just a waste of space.

I suggest you don't make too much noise in here. Basically, with money involved, this looks very much like an Ad. However, fwsdesign isn't yet eligible to make one (his first post in this Thread was a hijack really) so if you lot go on much longer, some prowling Mod might take a look at it, and, being more perceptive than I am, could decide it belongs in the Market Place where Market Place Rules rule and delete the lot.

Can you imagine what would happen if someone asked about customs paperwork and insurance?
2000km = 500chf - about 290litres of fuel - around 14.5l/100km - no wonder you are trying to find someone to pay for you to drive back to the UK | This user would like to thank dodgyken for this useful post: | |

You however can feel free to pay over commercial rates for parcels carriage if you like. Further the OP has not disclosed if they are insured or indemnified for any goods carried, or declaring the income so .....

In case it's of any interest to anyone, I posted the original post in this thread. I had several enquiries, but ended up taking a full Transit load to Manchester for some students, including a kayak, several bikes and some furniture. They paid me CHF200. I was driving back anyway, so I was pleased to be able to help.

It isn't even worth considering.
Not such a highwayman or illiterate after all then. I get between 15 and 18l per 100km when my Suv is empty. Thanks dodgyken and bigmac who defended me somewhat.
And strangely for those who groaned and politely, or otherwise, reprimanded my contributions to this post and indeed my relevancy in this forum. Why? Well for reminding me why after 5 years lost in this country I still do not find myself inclined to become more active here. Happy new year.
