What's going on with the 80 Bus in Zürich

Hi everyone-

This isn't a complaint, as I love the public transportation system here in Zürich. However...the 80 bus line seems to be having some problems lately. I get on at Max Bill Platz, which is the second stop direction Triemlispital. Nearly every morning, I see two buses back to back heading direction Bahnhof Oerlikon and then coming back around within a couple of minutes of each other. This also happens on the way home (we get on at ETH Hönggerberg), with buses being late, and then two in a row showing up. Last night, a pair of buses got to Glaubtenstrasse and then were merged (the passengers from the second bus were supposed to cram onto the first bus and the second bus then turned around).

What's going on?

Any explanations not involving aliens are welcome...

Re: What's going on with the 80 Bus in Zürich

If you go from top to bottom on this bus, so from Oerlikon to Triemli, are there any roadworks that might be causing delays?

I would guess so and I would guess this is why there are issues with the service.

I guess you are not alone - here the Tages Anzeiger article, in German.

Due to all the roadworks that still will be here for another year, the public transport is on a tighter schedule than before.. even the smalles mishaps mostly result in unusually long delays.. nothing specific to your route though.

I only go from Oerlikon to ETH Hönggerberg-sorry if that wasn't clear. And I haven't seen anything weird...

Re: What's going on with the 80 Bus in Zürich

It drives me crazy, sometimes it's like a minute and a half late!

No but seriously, sometimes they double up, and other times one is missed and the next one is chock-full.

I'm gonna get a horse

Re: What's going on with the 80 Bus in Zürich

I completely rely on the 32, and man, the number of times it's been late or just fallen out, or just stops at some random stop 5 before mine is getting really annoying. Sigh...I guess I'll have to rely on different routes now.

They seem to be doing the same thing with the 32 and also keep missing 62's
