A1 traffic in rush hour - From Morges to Lausanne and Morges to Geneva

Hi all!

I have just accepted a position in Geneva and now my husband is trying to finalize a position - which will be likely in direction Lausanne. From reading your suggestions, I've learned that our best choice is likely to live midway, and I am considering a village somewhere between Rolle and Morges. We are assuming we would take cars.

My questions are:

What kind of drive times would I have going West in the morning / East at night?

What kind of drive times would my spouse have going East in the morning / West at night?

What are the 'rush hours' in the morning and evening?

Thanks for your suggestions!!

Consider taking the train. The A1 can get pretty backed up during peak times.

I live in St-Prex and the traffic on the A1 sucks. Not as bad as it is around Montreux or Zurich but still, you wouldn't want to drive in it on purpose.
If you don't have to drive during rush hour that helps immensely.
If you don't have to drive to and from work, then I wouldn't. If you could live in Nyon, Rolle, or Morges then you could have access to most of the faster and frequent lines that run parallel to the A1 between Lausanne and Geneva. That said it is only about 40 minutes from Lausanne to Geneva on the faster lines so anywhere you like that you can get a decent house for a decent price is a good bet.

Good Luck,
Brian.
