We have a right hand drive UK registered car on which the 1-year grace period expires at the end of the year (NOTE: much to our surprise, the year runs from when I came to Switzerland, not when my family and the car came, some 9 months later!).
So, we have bought a swiss LHD car, but now have the problem of what to do with the old one. It runs fine, but is not worth a lot...
We plan to go back to the UK for a holiday in the summer, so could drive it back then - if there is some way of keeping it in the meantime.
1) is there something equivalent to a SORN in the UK which would allow us to keep it here (off the road) until summer when we would put it back in circulation and return to the UK
2) could we officially export it from Switzerland into France (or Germany, but we live in Lausanne), find somewhere to park it, and leave it there with occasional visits?
3) Can anyone think of someone who might want to drive it back to the UK who would leave it somewhere we could pick it up? Our preference would be with relatives around Oxford or Edinburgh, or perhaps Cambridge
4) Would anyone like to buy it (presumably to take it back to the UK) - see Ad for Volvo 850 in for sale forum (

5) Any other ideas how this one could be solved? Any suggestions welcome :-)
