Re: Driving round Bodensee corner through Austria: need vignette?

Hi forum, so I've to travel the same road, along southern Bodensee, from St. Margrethen (CH) to Bregenz (AT).

If I avoid Highways (Autobahn I guess), may I avoid to buy/stick the vignette to my Swiss car?

thank you a lot
Yes, you only need a Aus vignet if you drive on their motorways

Hi all,
Is still needed the vignette for the portion between St. Margrethen(CH) to Horbranz(DE) through Austria towards Germany?
According to https://www.srf.ch/news/regional/ost...-wird-mautfrei i understand is not needed anymore(bad German skills, google translate backed my understanding)

However, three weeks ago i went to TCS and i asked if i need the vignette and they said yes! so, i bought one.
Next week i have to go again through the same route and I am really confused. This time i will transit back and forth in the same day and I need to know if i really need a 10-days vignette.
Thank you!

Also it's worth noting now that the cops don't have to get you on the highway as they have cameras on gantries to catch those on the Autobahn without stickers. They will send fines to Swiss addresses and can get the details from the Swiss without an issue.

You can also get electronic vignettes but of course you need to do this plenty in advance.

Correct, it is toll free. Here from the Austrian Toll Company (ASFINAG) itself.
https://www.asfinag.at/maut-vignette.../#lg=1&slide=0
Blue: no toll
Orange: regular highway toll / Vignette
Green: Extra toll (mostly tunnels)

As others have pointed out. You can select "Business" in the app/website and it will be valid on the spot.
