Visitor Tram Pass, Basel

Does anyone know how visitor tram passes work? I know if you stay overnight in Basel and you areĻ'automatically entitled to a Mobility Card, giving free tram and bus travel throughout the city; the card is available from your hotel at check-in.'
What if you do not stay in a hotel? My sister will be visiting me in Basel in February and i am looking for the cheapest option for her. Also, are there discounted visitor train tickets (like thr half tax residents can get)? Thanks in advance!!!

Re: Visitor Tram Pass, Basel

What I've done when people have visited is bought one of the 7-day passes from the tourist office or the tram company's office on Barfusserplatz.

They're 30ish francs, as I recall. The visitor stamps it on the first day of use then it's good for 7 days from that first stamp.

I don't know about train tickets, though. Hope the tram thing helps.

Edit - managed to find this: Travel Passes for Visitors - link to previous thread on here that I put in my favourites so it must be useful.

Re: Visitor Tram Pass, Basel

When I visit Basel I buy a card that you punch each time you get on a tram, I think it's a 10 journey one, don't think it goes by date. It's very convenient. Can't recall the cost but not too bad. I even got a bit of a discount last time as I had a Halb-Tax card for my other travel! Could be others, experts will advise!

Re: Visitor Tram Pass, Basel

A halb-tax will allow you to buy the mehrfarhtkarte for child prices. If you don't have a halb-tax, you get 6 journeys for the price of 5 (12 for 10). Make sure it covers enough zones.

You can also get day cards covering zones 10, 11 and 13 - that includes the airport, but excludes Pratteln, and other outlying regions. You can get 1-7 days cards covering the whole of the TNW region. Prices here. Note, you can't use halb-tax with these cards.

You can buy them at most ticket machines.
