Suggestions welcomed for a Cheap van to rent in Basel

Hi everyone,

I am looking to rent a cheap van in Basel... any clues? I've seen a thread for Zürich, but not for here...

Thanks a lot in advance!

Best,

Txell

I don't know... I have no idea about prices in CH for this kind of matter. Maybe 15 CHF per hour or am I just being too hopeful?

..the cheapest that I found a couple of months ago was from Hertz..for 140...and that was with insurance and 450km free. Mind you I get 10% off from Hertz. I initially tried some local small rental places and their prices were jsut through the roof.

Mobility.ch are the cheapest since you can rent by the hour (min 3 hrs). You're looking at something like CHF 60 - 70 for 3 hrs use of their Merc transporter van.

Re: Suggestions welcomed for a Cheap van to rent in Basel

I need to transport households...

Mobily is a good option if you have a mobility card, which I don't and for one time is not worth it :-S

Does Ikea have information about their rentals online? I don't speak German so I cannot find it...

Thank you all for all the help!

Re: Suggestions welcomed for a Cheap van to rent in Basel

You can use mobility ch without becoming a member. I did this recently and found it was by far the cheapest option.

http://www.mobility.ch/pages/index.c...ub=632&id=2110
It's called 'Single Trip - Click & Drive'

You just have to go to an office at SBB to first pick up the key and fill out a form, then you can pick up the van in one of the specified locations.

I ended up calling customer service instead of using the online system to ensure I was booking the correct van.

Good luck!

I seem to recall we had a van from Interio- we'd bought a sofa and elected for the self delivery option- it was pretty cheap IIRC, and we had the van for about 90 minutes all told. but of course, you'd have to have bought something big from there to get the van (a plant pot wouldn't do it!)

I have always hired trailers instead - but that assumes you have a car with a towbar - and the ability to tow the weight.

Try Emil Frey - the car dealer. They were a lot cheaper than the normal rental companies when I hired a van last year. Still a lot more expensive than I am used to in Australia.
